ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Think Luke Shaw is on between 100k and 130k a week so if you use him as a metric can understand why Sterling's agents are holding out for more than Liverpool have offered.

Raheem Sterling’s refusal to sign a new contract at Liverpool is a story which is beginning to generate real momentum and this is a big moment for the forward. He needs to make his own decision. If he is persuaded by an agent, or anyone else, and takes the wrong decision now then it could backfire spectacularly. Being led into a big decision you didn’t want to make is the worst feeling in the world.

Sterling has reportedly refused to accept a pay rise to £100,000 per week, holding out for £130,000 per week, and if that is true I suspect it is his agent playing games and trying to get him a move to a more prestigious club who will pay him more money.

I'm sure it was reported Shaw gets £140k p/w, Chelsea laughed him out of the negotiations when they heard Utds offer. But yeah as it goes Shaw is younger and isn't a crucial player for Utd and Sterling and his agents have the RS over a barrel and will eventually get there way as they can't afford to lose the mantel of being a 'big club'.

It's actually Rodgers fault for telling anyone who'll listen to him that he's this fantastic player and world class. That's the trouble with massaging players ego and talking up talents, eventually they'll want paying world class wages.

Bit damned if you do and damned if you don't tbh - if you don't give them the credit they deserve they often feel under appreciated and want to move on anyway. Very fine line to tread and relies a lot on the lad's own personality and his upbringing.

There should be a law stopping paying lads so young such ridiculous wages. Or pay them into a trust fund or property or something for them.

Cant be good for them really.

Yeah I've thought that myself for a while. Say a % of their month wage gets held back in a trust fund with the PFA or something and they get it after a certain age or when they've finished.

Happens with pop stars. Makes tons of sense to me. Or maybe the ones with decent advisers do just that?

Gerrard gets 3 weeks off to go on his Leaving Party.

Liverpool captain to miss trip to Turkey (so presumably he can go to Dubai and practice his starfish routine on the 8 star hotel bed).

That's probably right...his one was all over the papers at The Grammys in the States last week so she'll be back now and due another holiday next week or so. Make a change her actually going with him. I think he'll be spewin' it though in reality...three weeks clipped off his extended-limelight farewell ego-tour.

You an tell Amir Khan doesn't watch any football, if he is getting coached by an excuse for a footballer, that finds it difficult to pass the ball more than 5 yards with any accuracy.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson, 24, has been working on his fitness by taking boxing tips from Amir Khan and in return he has been teaching the boxer how to play football. Mirror.

How Brendan Rodgers fixed broken Liverpool.

Or put differently: what happens when you bed in players who cost £130M to buy in the summer....and the 'fixed' Liverpool are still 7th in a four horse race.Defeat to Palace was the nadir of Rodgers’ reign at the club

The spin they put on stuff for Liverpool at that paper compared to the dogs*** reporting they give Everton.

The usual Kristian Walsh gushing bulls***....written like a 14 year old obsessed fan.

"The importance of being Raheem Sterling...the simplicity of his character makes it incomprehensible his contract is yet to be sorted...." So 'Bren'll Fix It' actually hasn't ....and hasn't he said But we are certainly not a club that is going to give out way, way above what a player is worth at a certain time of his career." ??

"Defeat to Palace was the nadir of Rodgers’ reign at the club"
..... so what was the 3-3 draw at Palace debacle then ??

"Can has been likened to Beckenbauer and Ballack, and Lallana has had a starring role in several games in the attacking midfield position." When ? to both

"Rodgers has always maintained how a swollen fixture list resulted in fewer minutes on the training pitch. By removing these four players, players new to the club, it allowed them to adapt to their new roles and understand what was required of them". A scarcely disguised rebrand of the too many games excuse.

I don't know how their Sports Editor allows this puffed up garbage to get past the subs red pen.

Him and his mate, posh boy Pearce, are perfect apostles for the cult's messiah.

They present even the worse times under Rodgers as a mere prelude to the rebirth of the faith...redemption always follows a falling from grace.

They're proper fruitcake zealots the pair of them. And they feel they have to write that way too or they'll be stoned as apostates by the rest of the cult.

It's all very creepy and biblical over there at that club and its hangers on. A very sinister organisation. They're just not decent...not decent at all.
