ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

don't agree with @Saint Domingo said at the bottom there regarding the script - the michael thomas moment will never ever be beaten. how i wish i was watching football at that time. can you imagine if that happened in this current PL era with all the TV coverage - it would be displayed everywhere - it would be used as the pinnacle moment of the premier league - it's not something that will ever happen again; not in this country. barca atleti last season was mightily close, must be said.

what i wish even more, is if it happened this season. after what happened to gerrard last season, imagine if they followed it up this season by losing with the last kick of the season in their overrated cheating captain's final two seasons; that's how you write a script!

I was lying on my settee resting ahead of driving to Berlin later that night and when Thomas scored, I literally jumped about four feet in the air... and driving south later that night, tooting my horn at every car with Arsenal fans in it going home...

this is the greatness about football - uniteds a country together

...against the RS.

Odds on that Ashley Barnes will be absent for Burnley's next three games following his assault on Matic (and Ivanovic) which, hardly surprising, includes a visit to Analfield.

Typical.

The Fa clearly told him to get himself sent off so he would miss their game with liverpool.

Except they forgot to cc in Atkinson in the email.

Michael Thomas on that night in 1989, went down in history as the only man that has ever given me a boner.
And that was one that a cat could not scratch!

They are going to do it arent they. Cant even say the bastards names. I hate them. Makes me feel sick the thought of them winning it.

4 games left and they only need 10 points to be fecking champions. Cant believe that Stevie Me is going to win a god damn title.

How are you going to handle it... Personally I dont know what the feck I'll do. I've never had to deal with this, the RS havent won the league in my lifetime. I think I'll go dark for a few months. Us getting 4th would make it easier but us missing 4th would be sickening.

I CANT DEAL WITH THESE RS BAASTAARRDS WINNING THIS LEAGUE

I'm pleased to report that they didn't, and won't win it this year either.

The thing about these is that you take your fun from them when you can. The first few months of the season they effectively eliminated themselves from any outside chance they'd snide a league title after treating us all to some spectacularly bad performances. Now they have form and we have to live with it for a bit. They might or might not get a CL spot (I certainly wouldn't make them favourites for it, btw). But the main thing is we had that purple patch of pure rubbish early on that's allowed us all to heave a sigh of relief for this season.

I'm just waiting for them to be turfed out the FA Cup now and it'll be job done as far as I'm concerned on that front. Another satisfactory season of mirth at the expense of the team that's spent over £800M in order to fail to win the title for 25 years (£230M of it by Gnashers).
