ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

See im not kissing their arse, more this year than any i have no interest in how they get on. But i just think the form they are currently in is the type of form that puts them in touching distance of city who for most of the season have been in the two horse race. How can it be down to luck that rodgers has turned them around?

I get the money spent argument and fair enough, yes with that amount invested they should be higher. But then the form they have been in, you could argue if they hadn't had a slow start to the season or lost sturridge to injury for so long then they would be in that title race now and the argument would be invalid. All ifs and buts i know, im not trying to fight thier corner, far from it. I just think their upturn in fortune is not down to good luck, they are just going out and getting results every week which is what we have lacked. It might only be 12 games in your eyes, but if we had those 12 games as well there would be no questioning our manager all this time.

Stop talking sense, its not what this threads about. Please go back to pure bitterness

Its not luck that puts you on this type of run obviously. It's luck that keeps you on it. They've played well at times during this run eg. City, Burnley. There have been other times however they've been just ok: Spurs, Swansea, and other times they've been rank. Other teams are in average punished when they're average. Take United, spawned a win v Newcastle but lost to Swansea when probably shouldn't have. Liverpool just win them all though. Even the Southampton game when they gave away what should have been 2 penalties and had Mignolet handling it outside the area they scored 2 from 2 shots. Against Swansea a ridiculous deflection from their only real chance. Even as good as they were against City the width of the post saved them from being 2-1 down.

If Everton or any other team had put in the exact same perfornances we'd have won about 5, drawn 3 and maybe lost 2. A dexent run but midtable at best. Liverpool keep winning the games to keep them relevant. If they were doing it like Chelsea, or City last season, or even themselves last season, just smashing teams every week you'd say fair enough. But they're not, its horrible flukey single gosl deflected winners. The stats show a very good defense but teams are literally missing one on one against them. How is that good play? How is it good play to go away from home have one shot on goal regardless of whether it loops in or not? Its not, its lucky. They're not lucky every match, just some in this run that should have gone the other way.

It will run out eventually because try as they might you cannot do it for a whole season. They may well get fourth and the cup, but Liverpool fans should consider had the coin dropped the other way even in just two matches (say no Bolton red card, and Southampton beat them) their season would be over. They've ridden rheir luck when they needed it but how many times have i said that watching them. Maybe if they reneged their pact with Satan they'd finally win a league.

I agree with all that mate.

but what matters is the result at full time and picking out this and that is all well enough but its still them winning at the end of the day. Chelsea have been lucky in games yet no-one will say it was down to luck if they run away with the title, city claw it back it wont be luck in the game vs us or whatever, they will have got on with it and won the most games when they needed to. Same principle here, we can do what we all do over them lot all we want but they just have to keep picking up points league wise and we have to beat 4 rather good teams in knockout format to achieve the same. Otherwise no europe for us again!

They have had half a dozen to ten good games in the league. That has been alongside failing to score against and beat the likes of Blackburn Rovers at home in the cup, while failing to score in open play and subsequently being dumped out of the Europa league by fairly piss poor opposition who had a number of players missing.

I am happy to give them some credit, but the problem is they go way overboard in the praise of their team. The way they still talk about last season on Redmen Tv (and other reds) beggars belief to actually what happened. Last season "where we just tw@tted everyone in our way" bla bla. Again last season they had a run of games (maybe 8 or 9) where they put to the sword some average teams, largely helped by having a good striker playing out of his skin and refs bending over for them.
They then subsequently bottled it when the crunch moment came.

The same is true of this season. I give them some credit, they have won a few games in the league when the pressure has been off them. In the same way, if we go and win 7 or 8 games between now and the end of the season in the league, it wouldn't be some outstanding achievement as we would have bottled the big games when it mattered.

The problem is because they go so overboard with their praise you have to consciously unpick their nonsense as they brainwash not only themselves but some around them. This isn't being bitter it is just giving an honest assessment of the world and their performance.

If (and it's still a big if) they can secure champions league football then they would have had a just about acceptable season. My own view is, like last season (and every other season for loser Rodgers) they will bottle it when it comes to the crunch. Pointing out that they are currently 5th in the league, having been dumped out of two very favourable draws at the first attempt in Europe while getting knocked out of domestic competitions as soon as they draw a top 8 team is not being bitter it is just being honest.

If they signed Isco in the summer you'd still get people on here saying he's overrated, inconsistent, and wouldn't get in our side ahead of the Scottish Pele

Isco is a top class player, far better than anything they have. As I have said in the post above though, cutting through their nonsense is important.

They were having a debate on redmen TV about where Coutinho ranks in the best numbers 10's in the world! He's a lad who's scored 5 goals this season and is a younger version of Osman/Peinaar. He's a decent footballer, but is nowhere near the Brazil squad never mind starting 11. They overate their players massively and in all honesty a lot of them are not as good as equivalent players we have.

Again i agree with all of that. Going deeper into it they are exactly like this. This is why we are evertonians and they think they have a divine right to be where they are.

I could make a long post of all the things i notice about them, such as mending over backwards for stirling begging him to stay, rodgers being the WORST person to speak to the media i have ever seen, and the fans who (not all of them)think they are watching some of the best players to grace the game being unfairly treated by science when things dont go their way.

Us, Arsenal, Spurs, Utd and City?

I think it's churlish to say they weren't that good last season, because they were. They played some cracking football, and scored shedloads of goals. This season however, they remind me of us the year we got 4th, nicking wins, teams failing to score chances, not controlling games and certainly not scaring teams like they did last year. That said, it doesn't mean they won't come at least 4th.
