ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

As I have said consistently on here, Rodgers bottles just about every big game he has ever been faced with. Yesterday to finish in the top 4 they had to win and they blew it. No doubt they'll valiantly battle on, come 5th and blame it on [Poor language removed] referees or produce league tables of 2015 and show they are top and deserve it.

What is astonishing is again the complete un utter delusion amongst their ranks. In the pre match build up going on about their "run" of form and asking if United would be aware of it? Winning a few games back to back doesn't constituted an awe inspiring run, especially with some very fortuitous victories. In the absence of having them ramming it down your ear constantly you could easily be forgiven for not being aware they are even on a good run of form.

The second point is this bizarre idea they will still get top 4. At no point this season have they ever looked in the least bit likely to get near the top 4. That was their big opportunity and they have blown it. I suspect they will finish 7th now. A handful of places above us. Not that you would guess with their patronising and belittling attitude. The truth of it is, both sides will have messed up this season, finish outside the top 4/5 clubs and be mid table mediocrity. At least we have the good grace to acknowledge that.

Similarly to last season though some of these magical runs they go on are actually just a few stand out wins surrounded by some very lucky wins. I've often said that this season they've been nowhere near where they were last seaspn but they've banged on as though this run is a portent of a title challenging era just around the corner. Complete rubbish when you actually examine how they've been playing.

The wheels could have come off at any point. They should have been mauled against Southampton in what was quite frankly an embarassment for a supposedly 'unbiased' premier league. They were poor against Swansea and also poor against Tottenham. These games should at least have been draws possibly losses. They even let Aguero have enough shots on goal against City to lose that even though they played well. They won them all however because it was Coutinho wonder goals nearly every game, keepers like Lloris having howlers, favourable refereeing, luck with deflections, and awful finishing against them. Not in all the games, but in some of them. You take that away and they could be 11 behind United now. You can't do that all season. At some point your one shot on target doesnt go in (although they still managed that on Sunday, the leagues top keeper beaten on his near post, by their only shot, dont remember that in our game at Old Trafford), teams won't miss every single chance you give them, deflections wont always go in. Then what do you have left? Quite an average team with a lot of huff and puff who press quite well. Shouldn't be anywhere near the top 4 though when you compare their squads to United and Arsenal. I mean Herrera and Mata v Allen and Henderson was embarassing.

Also, according to the Echo, Lovren is injured

"The 25-year-old was not in the squad to face United and the Croatian Football Federation have announced he will miss this weekend’s match in Zagreb due to a recurrence of the “abdominal wall injury” that forced him out of last year’s game against Bulgaria."

Kolo time, or Can as a CB or does Rodgers ditch the back three entirely...

Grasping at straws now, supposedly Rooney should be done for 'doing' Mingolet, even though he hardly touches him, and Mingolet goes down as if he's actually been done good and proper.

Also, back to the fa have got it in for them, again.

The reason that Rooney is falling there is because Skrtel looked straight at him and then pushed him off his feet. Skretel had the gall to claim Rooney had fouled the keeper!

Must be a coincidence that they do not include the push in the bit they show on the vine though :)

It is funny though how the reds***e are putting the game under the microscope, Phil Jones is the latest who should have been sent of for 2 yellows that he should have been given, also it was the refs fault for the second goal because he got in Allen's way, a couple saying "on purpose"

Skrtel set to be charged and miss 3 games...that stamp was so blatant I'm glad the kopites at the FA weren't allowed to brush it under the carpet
