ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Funny, reporters were a lot less dismiisive of Sterling's value to Liverpool earlier on in the season and in the run up to the World Cup
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-week-is-obscene-but-at-least-hes-honest.html

Liverpool have little to fear from the Sterling situation, other than the small detail of losing the player, which they’ll easily get over if it comes to that. They’ve lost better in the last 12 months, never mind in their history, and every wage bill has its ceiling.

The Anfield board knows there will be a popular movement in their favour as the figure Sterling rejected (an obscene £100,000 a week) and is demanding (an even more obscene £150,000 a week) is dissected in public. If Sterling is sold for £40 million this summer, it is more likely to provoke a bit of disappointment and ‘ho-hum’ than a fans protest. There was a noticeably impatient murmur whenever Sterling lost possession against Manchester United on Sunday. Presumably he knows why.

£40m for sterling hahahaha yeah sure. the same figure that is being branded about for the likes of pogba. only liverpool would pay £40m for sterling, that's the only possibility of that fee. as if they'd get that much for someone who has yet to be proven on the biggest stages and doesn't really want to be at the club.

Supposedly Sturridge is injured as well, England docs looking at him.

First points for turning up on time, second comes from tying his shoelaces without the need of help, third one is for 'doin dem mancs' and the forth is just plain old pop-corning.

Are you seeing this @Prevenger17 what that fecks going on pal?

Heavy lies the crown!

It truly is hideous, both the act and viewing it.

Further proof Skrtel is a monster on the inside as well as out.

i think getting his face punched in like in fight club, or that fish in the inbetweeners would be just. such a vile human being tbh, they have had so many players over the years. it's not the fact they play for liverpool, i could name vile players from other clubs and players from liverpool that are nice(ish) - but they are the thuggiest football club alive - a motion shared and appluaded by their fanbase it seems

I wonder how much Sterling not signing the contract has to do with the way Rodgers treated him over playing for England and the embarrassing 'too tired' incident. Maybe it's not the money, maybe he just doesn't want to play for a deluded fool while he's trying to develop his career.

I have been thinking this myself.

I think people would be suprised by how much these top players want to play for there country. as a footballer you go through stages, get picked up, get offered a youth contract, professional contract then it's all about big moves and finally international recognition / honours when you've achieved everything you set out to do. For me it must be one of the main things that motivate them and pressurising the likes of him and Sturridge to give it up will not go down well.

I honestly believe Gerrard would of have preferred to have lifted the world cup for England last summer than the premiership for Liverpool. International football is 10 fold the size of club football and although we are not the most patriotic of countries when it comes to our national football team it would have put Gerrard down in history much more than a league win. I remember there fans saying Gerrard should retire from England for the way Suarez was treated, as if that was ever going to happen.

Of cause it was deliberate, look at the stride pattern, big, big, big...medium to small at full speed...yeah right...both would have fitted right in with the Revie / Giles / Bremner Leeds

Is this the first time that a manager has near enough cried to the media about his player not yet signing a contract in order to make him stay?
