ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

So two players banned for stamping and a third had to be held back by the fans

Why isnt this news being talked about a little bit more?!

If Sterling is sold for £40million the universe will implode.
Tbh if I was them, that is the minimum price I would put on his head. Not really in the expectation someone will pay it but to ward off buyers.

Know not many agree with me on here but really rate Sterling. For a 20 year old he has been a very consistent player despite playing a lot of games. He can also play several different positions well - on the wings, #10, false striker etc. As we've seen with Ross it can be difficult for a young player to adapt to frequent shifting between roles and it is very useful to have players who can do that in a squad to cover injuries and changes in formation. He also has a good injury history.

And even with the money how likely are they to replace him with a better player? Despite their CL finish and Suarez cash they couldn't attract Alexis Sanchez and instead spent 45m on Lallana and Markovic, both are decent but think Sterling has a much higher potential.

The major problem with Sterling is his character but you could have said that about several Liverpool players.

Agree with you,if they were dumb enough to go for it,much as I like Walcott and his attitude, I'd happily do a player plus cash deal. He's from London isn't he?

I remember Duncan Ferguson getting banned for extra games just for being Duncan Ferguson. Still amazed Gerrard was actually sent off. The cheek of it!

Are you responding to my post?

Arsenal would be an interesting place for Sterling, Wenger has a pretty good record with young players. Not sure you would pay him what he wants though - wouldn't it upset the applecart with the rest of the squad?

Do not forget that many of those in the media are devout disciples of the Church of Bill Shankley: the quasi-religious cult residing over the park!

Same old rhetoric of everyone is against them... they're treated terribly... although in fact they have a divine right to succeed over everyone.

Jamie 'I am a biased...' Redknapp's scathing comments regarding the Costa stamp earlier in the season were, "He's bang out of order!"

He goes on to explain that such behaviour is unacceptable in the modern game as it is a "disgrace". I totally agree Jamie.

However, regarding Steven Gerrard's stamp his mood is somewhat different - obviously slating 'Saint Steven' would equate to blasphemy.

Although he admits there is no excuse, he has "some sympathy" for Gerrard and mentions that it was 'moment of madness'.

Even removing my 'Blue-Tinted-Glasses', his reaction to one of the events seems somewhat biased. I wonder what he'll spout about Skrtel.

I'm not saying it should be plastered all over the press, but I'm confident some pundits will be sweeping the event under the carpet.

sterling's a good player who's carried them this whole season. if you compare it to everyone else at the club he deserves to be one of the top earners. but as a youngster, he shouldn't be offered anywhere near that much. money is the main reason imo why so many young footballers of this generation don't live up to potential.

With regards to one of your earlier posts, I really do rate Sterling as well. Yes he plays for that lot, but you cannot disregard his talent.

As you mentioned he's adaptable but still consistent, pacey, comfortable on the ball, intelligent passing, a good mover and can finish.

Although he's probably most efficient as a number ten, you can play him anywhere across the front and he'll perform to a competent level.

However, from all accounts his attitude is far from the best. Maybe his confidence and ambition helps in some aspects, but he appears petulant.

No offence to @49ers and the Gunners, yet I doubt he'd go there. They may be able to afford his wage demands if they can afford Sanchez etc.

Nevertheless, I think his sights will be surely set on playing at the higher echelons AND earning a pretty penny in the meantime.

He's what 20? And he's already reportedly demanding well over the £100k mark and is clearly willing to try to manipulate the issue to his benefit.

Then there was the whole exhaustion and holiday issue where he was sunning himself in Jamaica, while his team was in a slight slump.

Even if he signs a multi-million pound deal with those lot in the Summer, I would expect him to be jostling for a 'big' move within a year or two.

Basically, he's good and he knows it so will use it to justify his own demands.

If I had to guess it will be City he'll end up at.

They need English players and also young ones, very few of their squad are under 27. His high salary won't upset their wage structure either. The other two English clubs able to afford his desired salary are United and Chelsea, hardly good relations between the clubs and also guess Mourinho would hate Sterling's attitude.

Perhaps he'll take a risk and move abroad but can't see Real Madrid for several reasons, one being fans have hardly taken to Bale.
