ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

In fairness to him Dave,he's looks like he's got more to him than Sterling, looks like he's got a "brain" as opposed to the other fella to me,like you say though these kids have got to produce over a longer period before they can be talked of as actual "top players"
Yeah, I think he's very good from what I've seen. He can run with the ball from inside his own half and turn defence into attack quickly.

He's a real find for them. Problem for them these days though is that if he does become the real deal he'll be taken from them. That's the reality: Torres, Suarez, Alonso, Mascherano....

You look at what they have apart from Gerrard, Sturridge and Sterling and it's frightening for them that all three have no future with them (one defo).

I'd honestly say only Coutinho is top class after that. The rest could fit into a team like Newcastle comfortably and not rise above that quality.

FSG must look at it all and think "WTF happened to that £250M we gave that asshole?"

Rodgers wont last there too much longer. If he fails to win the cup and finishes 5th/6th he's toast, imo.

I can't see how thats a good thing though.

You can just see an decent European coach rolling in if Rodgers is given the boot. Looking at the squad you would think a top european coach wouldn't go anywhere near that place, but someone like a Didier Deschamps, someone who wants a fresh challenge in the biggest league in the world would probably give it a go.

Liverpool: they look like a crisis waiting to happen.

If Arsenal turn them over next game and United get further ahead of them they're almost certain to miss out on a CL place. Then you look at next season without CL football to offer and they're very vulnerable. Sterling has gone almost for sure now; Henderson is dragging his feet on a contract; Gerrard is off (which denies them at least some figurehead they take inspiration from); that forward line needs selling and replacing (goes without saying that Balotelli, Borini and Lambert will all leave; Sturridge, IMO, is finished as a player given his injuries); the GK is suspect and drifts in and out of form.

They are walking a very thin line at the moment. Suspensions to Gerrard, Skrtel and the injury to Sturridge could tip them right over the cliff. And they've been found out with that system they play.

Not looking good at all for them. Not one bit.
tbf they've been looking like that for the last 8 or so years, yet they always somehow come up smelling like roses.

They can get near CL with the players they have currently, but they cant (no matter who's in charge) be favourites to take a spot each season. They had Suarez and he basically dragged a top 6 team to near winning the title. He's gone and they wont replace him in a hurry.

LFC spend big, no question. But to guarantee CL spots in this league now you either have to have sheik/oligarch levels of spending or be like Wenger who knows the course and distance in his sleep.

Deschamp, Blanc, De Boer, whoever wouldn't be readily persuaded to step into that.

Any top European coach would go in there and immediately want 250 mill to sort out that squad, I mean what has he got to work with?

Gerrard gone, Lucas wanting out, so a midfield of Henderson Allen and Can. Nowhere near top 4 quality let alone title winning. Upfront it's Sturridge who's never fit and then your pick from Balotelli Lambert and Borini.

The keeper isn't good enough and the defence cannot play with a back 4 as the full backs can't defend.

Their only real potential is on the flanks with markovic Coutinho Sterling and Ibe but these players are hit and miss. Top managers are used to Hazard, Robben, di Maria etc.

FSG will not pay for another run around the candy shop whilst they're funding the stadium. They therefore won't attract any top tier manager. That's why they courted clowns like Martinez and Rodgers first time round. They promise you a nirvana of perpetual success based on a philosophy and not spending any money and using the academy. It doesn't go anywhere though which is why United got in Van Gaal and gave him 150 mill. It's fine for the level Everton are sadly at but if the deluded lot across the park want to rejoin the trough it's put up or shut up. Their sell to buy policy, wrangling over new deals, and lack of investment in the last two jam windows should have alarm bells ringing.

I honestly think our squad would be more dangerous in the hands of a good coach than theirs. A decent manager may want to build around Stones Coleman McCarthy Barkley Lukaku. Who do you build a side around in Liverpool's team?

It's where they start out from now though. In the recent past they didn't have far to fall. They were outside of the CL places for the most part and crisis followed by change was never a negative if you still have money to spend. The past two seasons though they've built a little bit and have their eye back in the game of finishing in the CL places. They have that to lose, imo...they dont have a great squad, but it is strong enough to mount a CL spot challenge.

If quality players leave, as they will, they're looking to get more new faces in and trying to assimilate them - as they had to this season with the players they bought last summer - and they lose momentum.

It sounds OTT given they are in with a shout of the CL still, but they'e not far away from major turmoil. Players will leave, pressure on Rodgers will mount, a fanbase contemplating stepping back down the pecking order domestically and in Europe again. It's a few results down the road if it goes wrong on the pitch for them.

To be fair they have hardly been smelling of roses recently.

They've won absolutely zilch for years now even finishing behind us a few times and having a season with no European football at all despite having one of the best in the world with them, who's now gone and the money has been wasted.

Apart form putting us through hell during the 2nd half of last year it ended up turning into a nightmare for them and the European campaign which ensued could not of gone any worst, dumped out of both competitions at the FIRST opportunity despite fairly good draws.

Sturridges injury list would be interesting to see
