ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Lol the bid is around 25 million.
When peeling away all the hype and the fact he is a young English player, then I do not think £25m is too far off his actual value.

He is a skilful, nifty player who can and will contribute to a team, but he is far off being a world beater (or at least yet and if he ever does).

Liverpool have built this hype around him as a future starlet, and as a result they're now suffering the consequences of putting him on a pedestal.

He thinks he's special and they've already mollycoddled him on a few occasion: the Jamaica holiday; allowing him to regularly lead the line.

Now he thinks he is the best, so the wages or conditions he is demanding mirror this belief. One big contact now and it sets a precedent.

They will either have to bow down to his demands or let him go, where he'll probably be found out and will struggle to start.

If he does stay then he may still be found out... but on £150k per week for a long, long time. Either way Liverpool look like a laughing stock.

Yep, he annoyed that he wasn't offered the same as weetabix legs and this what kicked it off. The owners have shown us with the Suarez that won't let a player go. Plus the fact they know sterling is on 35k a week and won't want to be on that for another season so will force him into signing a new contract or sit on 35k for another 14 months. The club is in control at the moment.

How much ruddy money do they need to spend? If £120m doesn't buy you quality, where do you stop?

Theyre like drug addicts. Spending money is a drug to them and theyve got someone in charge who likes to get his kicks spending money.

The problem is they get all anti social when they cant spend. well into withdrawal. Major come down when they realise theyve signed gash

The chancer is warning them that this summer theyll be not spending like drug fuelled hedonists.

The in patients won't like that

Houghton says the club cannot compete with the Premier League's top spenders.

He told BBC World Service: "The owners are going to have to try and do something about it. Whether they are willing to, only time will tell."
