Brendan Rodgers believes Liverpool FC's ability to attract top class talent this summer is a “symbol” of the club’s resurgence.
The Reds are on the brink of securing their eighth signing of the window with left-back Alberto Moreno due to complete his medical tomorrow ahead of his £12million move from Sevilla.
Rodgers, whose spending spree will top the £100m mark in the wake of the £75m sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, has found himself shopping for a higher calibre of player compared to his first two years at Anfield.
One reason is the offer of Champions League football this season but the manager says the style in which Liverpool lit up the Premier League last term has also convinced stars to turn down more lucrative offers and head for Merseyside.

“That ability to attract top players is great,” Rodgers said. “It’s a huge indication of the progress of the club – a really good symbol of where club is at. We have made huge strides in the last couple of years.
“If you’re a football player in Europe watching how we played last season and saw our supporters, your reaction would be that you’d want to play in that environment.
“It’s the most competitive league in the world and this is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“It’s a team that plays exciting football. I’m happy with the players we have got in, and we’ll be set up for an exciting season.”
Prior to Moreno, Liverpool had already spent around £90million on deals for Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi and Javier Manquillo.
Winger Markovic, a £20million new arrival from Benfica, and defender Lovren, who cost the same amount from Southampton, have been two of Liverpool’s most expensive and high-profile summer buys.

Rodgers says both were inundated with offers from across Europe but only had eyes for Anfield.
“Lovren was a guy sought after by a number of clubs but for him to say he only wanted to come to Liverpool was great,” Rodgers added.
“Young Markovic had two or three other clubs there waiting to take him, clubs where he had mates from his international team, but he wanted to come to Liverpool.
“These guys watch football throughout Europe. They watch us and want to be part of what we’re doing. It’s the growth. It hasn’t just happened by accident. A lot of work and time has gone in both on and off the field. The most important thing is to have an identity. There is real excitement around the club.”
Rodgers wants one more signing before the window shuts on September 1.
The Reds boss admits securing the services of another striker is “crucial” to provide cover for Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert. Fabio Borini remains a Liverpool player but the Italian will still be allowed to leave if he accepts the chance to join Sunderland for £14m.
The Reds have not made a contract offer to Samuel Eto’o. The 33-year-old, who is a free agent after leaving Chelsea, has been considered as a stop-gap prior to Origi’s arrival at Anfield next summer.
But his age – and his wage demands – means Liverpool are currently pursuing other more attractive options. They would only look to Eto’o in the closing days of the window if their striker search has been unsuccessful".

Hahaha...my mate,a RS, in the pub tonight said he'd take £100M,......when I stopped laughing, I pointed out the 7 goals he's scored and the precious few assists and asked who in their right mind would even offer £20M, he seemed confused.....

Sounds like that player who signed for..Leeds was it? Came in and said he wanted something like 10k/week to go there, someone there said 'I'm sorry, we can't do that, we have a wage structure here. We'll pay you 40k'.
