ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

State of this LFC statement, btw.

That statement is basically propaganda to appease the fans. They have gone and bought a second tier (ie very good but not world class player) by paying twice as much as anyone else. Yes a couple of other teams were tentatively interested. They'd have taken him as a backup squad man at the right place. A bit like us with say a Cleverley.

For them to make out they have beaten off competition for him is laughable. But they are desperate for a top class player and will project those feelings of desperation onto the lad. Good luck son.

£30M is insane. Hoffenheim must be pissing themselves they got that cash for a player who's good but not their best.

Liverpool need a new goal machine. From the figures I'm looking at and the environment he gets them in, I think we can safely say they're not getting it with Firmino. I believe they may go back in for another striker before the summer's out. They'll have to.

They are looking at Rondon or Bacca, which would be better buys than Benteke I'd say.

From the club statement they are making out they have beaten off other clubs. This poor lad better get off to a flyer, otherwise he will be scapegoated for not being Suarez.

As the saying goes: a camel is a horse designed by committee.

i'm wondering how long FSG are going to keep going along with this until they realise they have to recuperate some of their losses - sell a few players and just rake in the TV and commercial money for a couple of seasons before selling up.

they were utter dirge last season and still finished 6th because the standard of the league was shocking.

Similar to maybe Kagawa at united? Squad player with occasional brilliance?

As soon as they get the Main Stand upgraded and give a lick of paint to the rest of the ground they'll be selling up. They know they cant compete in this league. They'll have one LC to show for it but walk off with a massive double-their-money at least profit.

they can't buy all 3! they're all strikers! they already have about 5 and nobody wants to buy any of their current ones because they're all dross apart from sturridge who has a woeful injury record.

they bought all those midfielders in the last 2 years - are they now going to ditch it and do their own crappy version of barca's south american front three?
