35 goals in 140 appearances for Hoffenheim. 1 in 4...and in the Bundesliga where I wouldn't exactly say the defensive play is top notch.

Let's face it, he's been at Hoffenheim for 5 years and none of the bigger German teams with plenty of time to call it went for him. He's not a new Suarez in the making, that's for sure.

I'm calling this a £30M flop straight away. The final nail in Rodgers' coffin.

I read Liverpool were signing some Brazilian forward for £29m from the Bundesliga and became concerned that he might actually be the real deal.

I then looked at his goal scoring record and it's average at best over the previous 5 seasons, with one good season. I am now less concerned, though of course he may do well for them (and be that real deal).

Trust Liverpool to go to Hoffenheim and not sign the only player they have worth taking: Kevin Volland.

The joy of Rodgers is, even if he signs good players, he will mis use them. Is this lad much better than Markovic was last summer?

And yes, I suspect this is the Sterling replacement.

only liverpool can spend £30m on a player not many people have heard of from a smallish club, for a player rated at half the price when nobody else was actually in for him.

united's "interest" has been dead for a while. why do they do this? no offence, if i had all the money their owners had, i would still be more careful for it. remember the shock from sunderland fans when they paid £20m for henderson! nobody was even interested, they could have saved a good £10m. firminho sounds the same. tha transfer window's not even open, why such a rush? totally laughable.

£30M is insane. Hoffenheim must be pissing themselves they got that cash for a player who's good but not their best.

Liverpool need a new goal machine. From the figures I'm looking at and the environment he gets them in, I think we can safely say they're not getting it with Firmino. I believe they may go back in for another striker before the summer's out. They'll have to.
