right now no.

difference being city paid for the player over the next 10 years if he continues to improve. No player is ready made at his age so they have invested in the player he will become rather than the player he is now.

Whether he becomes that player time will tell
It's a lot of money to pay for potential, even for them, and I don't think he'll improve that much. I could be wrong, but
he doesn't excite me and not because he played for Liverpool.

Rooney in this market would have gone for a similar amount. Or at least stirling went for a similar amount.

Remember, stirling wasn't 49 million. it was 35 growing to 40 on conditions. The rest was just simply a payment to QPR. Liverpool knoew how much they needed to make back and the deal realistically covered their costs plus made sure the qpr money was seperate.

OK, I didn't know that. Still don't think he's that good, though.

They'll have the same problem like they did with carroll, they don't know how to use that type of forward properly. Big risk spending that sort of wedge on a player that had such a severe injury too

thing is, he is. remember the market now is for potential international stars is 30. so rooney would be over 30 now in the market, shaw is 30 etc internationals so price goes up.

if he becomes world class then money well spent. if they get 6-7 years out of him and be succesful then money well spent.

Kudos todays Metro, apart from being complimentary about Brenda and sticking him in the winners column, can't be having that going on t.b.h.

WINNERS AND LOSERS (column)

Brendan Rodgers;

Amid the sanctimonious and delusional vitriol from some Reds pundits (mainly ex-players who would have done just the same), the Liverpool boss has handled Raheem Sterling's exit with a modicum of dignity. Overtly manoeuvring for a big-money move to a club more likely to win trophies is hardly unheralded. By refraining from parting shots, Rodgers at least acknowledged this.

Love the first line:celebrate::celebrate::celebrate:

I've no idea how Argentina keep faith with him. He's destroyed two finals for them in the space of 12 months. I saw Napoli a few times toward the end of last season and he looks disinterested and/or shot in confidence terms.

Maybe Brendan's man management skills can turn him into a world beater? :coffee:

Ah yes. His man-management skills. Clearly shown here with this lovely bit of humiliation of Sterling in front of TV CAMERAS in 2012.

Quote: Sometimes, you have to wonder if this is Raheem Sterling ’s payback for Boston, 2012.

“Your attitude you need to improve and your work. You need to improve your attitude.

“You say ‘steady’ to me again when I say something to you and you’ll be on the first plane back.

“You’re very, very fortunate to be here.”

Brendan Rodgers to Sterling, captured in all its rollocking glory by that lamentable Being: Liverpool documentary.

Just noticed Benteke trending, clicked and;

Surprised. Think he'll do a job there.

Laughing at how Villa have played them though. "Man Utd interested...", then immediately trigger his release clause.

Mad how often this happens and no one really cottons onto it.

Press say we are interested in Shaqiri what happens a day later? Stoke put a bid in

Press say we are interested in Wijnaldum what happens a day later? Newcastle put in a bid

Think it may of happened with Rom and the Wolfsburg interest, then we put our bid in the day after

Selling club want more money or want a team to hurry up with a bid, selling club goes to press/agent to realease interest from rival team, buying club panic that they will lose out on target and put a bid in
