ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Gnashers in his press conference today: "We've nearly half a new team coming in so it's about the players adapting and adjusting, and improving the dynamic and cohesion in the team."

The feller will never take responsibility. There's always some advance excuse, always some hedging of bets.

I'm amazed he survived the summer, tbh. He's a poor run of form away from the sack though.

Hes trying his hand again with last seasons mantra/excuse that new players will take time to settle in. The con being of course though that most of last season's expensive purchases haven't even as yet adapted. Hes banked a further excuse for the coming months as he can refer to this new regime of coaching staff having needed to adapt and adjust. Then again, the players will have to adapt and adjust to the new coaches so that's another boil in the bag excuse ready. The truth is though...with all the money hes p**sed up the wall, he actually has no excuse.

Been finding a lot recently that when you talk about liverpool and signings or whatever, the fans seem to get up their own arse about it.

Had someone delete me from social media because i put on twitter about origi being in the worst x11 of the year in france. My uncle (who isnt the biggest fan) pulled me up the other night about mentioning something on facebook (no idea what like, rarely post on there as it is) and its like the shear mention of them in any sort of negative way is not allowed.

We can slag our own club off and be fine with it, but it seems any crtiisism of liverpool is just seen as insulting them.

His career stats are great. He just looks spendthrift to me in terms of chances required to convert to goals. It's a good job he's been in some top sides or his stats would be rank.

From what i have seen he is very good, i guess the same could be said of many top players, could they do it at a lesser side, can they do it on a wet windy night at stoke etc etc....

I wouldnt mind him here at Everton, may do well at a team like spurs or Chelsea too. Pure goalscorer, although they cost a premium hence why Napoli paid £34-£40 million (not sure of exact figure). Seeing Liverpool linked with him worried me more than it does seeing LFC with Benteke, then again players like Higuain only want top team so that rules LFC out then given they are now a feeder club lol

Is your uncle likely to be the 'one that touched you' given his poor decisions in life like supporting LFC and such ?...... ;)

That excuse is so May 2015 for not doing well. FSG have no other choice at the moment to stick rather than twist, they need a big name, none available at present, when they force him to resign so he will get no compo.

That has to be the reason. Even so, he's been given way too much cash to spend again. It's way above the cash they got for Sterling - which must have been low £40M's once QPR had been weighed in.

When they nearly won the league, you can just imagine all those US 'stars', that have invested in FSG, getting their mates around to watch LFC on the TV and saying 'that's my team'. Only to be let down last season when they bombed. Watching Rodgers put out a reserve team at the Bernabeu would not have gone down well with FSG investors. As wont watching them in the Europa league this season.

A bad start will only add to the disillusionment with Rodgers amongst this group who will question whether investing in FSG/LFC was a good idea. For some they will be wanting a return on their investment.

Of course once that has all been attended to he'll then fall back on the quality (or lack) of the pitch.

I forgot about him throwing the poor groundsmen under the bus because of the pitch excuse. Hes shameless in his self defence. Come September, Im expecting him to chime up with "you know we have to have a wee bit of patience in trying to get the right blend and dynamic results wise with us now having so many gifted young talents to choose from....sometimes its more difficult for managers when the squad is bigger".
