ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Weirdly I think any of the three would be alright as third choice striker. Lambert'd actually a decent player but they only give him 5 mins here and there. Who would you feel more confident of getting a goal if Lukaku and Naismith went off, Kone or Lambert?

Kinnell. - as in Kone and Lambert. You wouldn't want to watch your team with them two upfront together would ya?

Definitely no, I mean if you had to have one as a third choice striker. Let's face it who does have a good third choice striker? Even City and Chelsea only have Dzeko and Remy and neither of them are great. United have James Wilson. It's a difficult sell 'come and play for us, you'll get on if the first two guys get injured'

say wha? both would walk into our first XI and arguably arsenal's and united's and everyone else in the league

Would you have either over Lukaku? We normally play one striker do they'd be on the bench. Similarly would they dislodge Rooney? Or Giroud? Probably not. They're good players but no top club would want to go a whole season with them as their first choice. The point I'm making is even City and Chelsea with all their money cannot find backup strikers of a quality that would mean they weren't worried if their first choice went down injured. If they struggle how are we supposed to find one as good as Lukaku? I would have had Lambert or Balotelli if they were free to play third choice striker.

dzeko's a class replacement. i think aguero's irreplaceable because he's the best all round striker in the world imo. i think remy's done great at chelsea every chance he's got. he's second choice anyway - well he's better than falcao for me. they're not much of a step down from rooney or giroud if we're being honest.

Rodgers is a bad snide. He has thrown Balotelli under the bus as he is the easy target. While Balotelli was rubbish last season he hasn't exactly done much wrong off the pitch.

I imagine Balotelli is quite popular and Rodgers stance will further antagonise players.

Dzeko's potency is often underestimated. He's not a world beater, but his strike rate at City is something like 1 in 2.6 games.

For a player who has often been brought in and then subsequently dropped (often without fault) or brought on as a sub, it's a good average.

He's a different type of striker from Lukaku, yet I'd happily have him here and I think he'd put pressure on Rom for the starting position.

Remy is a potent placement as well; Lukaku arguably has more potential and ability, but again I think he would challenge Rom for a place.

However, debatably Falcao has the potential to be better than the two and was (prior to his injury) up there with Rooney and Giroud. If not above.

He may not have showed it last season for one reason or another and he may not reach his prime again, yet if nurtured he can be very potent.

To be fair though I would have any of them as competition for Lukaku, as our current option with Kone is almost no option at all.

Last season it was Borini who was the striker scapegoat and now it is Mario; all in order to deflect the attention that they're all his signings.

Borini was brought in by Brenda and clearly hasn't made it and as such he'll most probably be off soon. Also, Lambert will be offloaded soon.

Mario on the other hand is a more difficult entity; he has been found out. He's well travelled for big fees, yet has never really settled or made it.

It will be much more difficult to offload him for anywhere near the fee they paid for him. Italian clubs are interested but at a fraction of the price.

Therefore here starts the smear campaign: leave him out of the touring squads; train with the kids; question his attitude.

All to divert the attention that Rodgers has made a mistake (well actually a fair few) and this one they're struggling to brush under the carpet.

I'd feel sorry for Mario if he wasn't such an idiot and a wind up merchant. Really they should have never bought him in the first place...

... but that wouldn't have been fun to watch for ourselves.
