ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Seems like he is backtracking already.

Liverpool’s trophy manager asks for time to win trophies

“People should not make me out to be like Jesus, I don’t walk on water,” he said. “I understand that there are huge expectations surrounding this club, and expectations are important in life, not just football, but I hope no one really thinks I can perform wonders. Of course I cannot. I am not really enjoying all this attention, to be honest. I didn’t ask for it and I am hoping that after the initial big hype we can all cool down a little and get to work.

“I am glad everyone seems happy I am here, but some people seem to think that because Jürgen is here everything will change. I can’t promise that. Some things will change, for sure, and I might be different to other managers in some respects, but we cannot change the whole world in one day. I am sure Liverpool fans are clever enough to understand that we need time. If things need changing I want to do it as soon as possible, but patience is important.”

Oh dear, 'clever enough'. He doesn't have time his appointment has sent the delusional Kopites into uncontrollable excitement. He just doesn't know what he has let himself in for.

Didn't he do his research first, the Liverpool job get alot of media attention, the expectations on the manager are unreleastic which is why they go through so many managers. Just shows klopp is not as Savvy as we thought was!

I forget how great this whole episode was

pepe reina is one of the biggest [Poor language removed] in football history. he'd always get involved like a billy big bollocks when he wasn't needed. he would have stayed in his nets a few decades ago and wouldn't have made a sound the little mouse.

The premiership at the moment is weak, with Chelsea in such inexplicable disarray there's no top team that looks like sure things for the title like Mourinho's first Chelsea team or a Ferguson Man U. The quality of the current Liverpool squad is poor, but unless there's major strengthening at the clubs above Liverpool, if Klopp is able to adapt properly (and based on what he's done up to now there's every indication he could) there's a real possibility Liverpool could be genuine title contenders in the next 2-3 years.
lol

Yup, he's a complete twonk and so easy to wind up, he was a good goalkeeper but never as good as that lot made him out to be.

Behave mate,ffs.

Chelsea are in free fall at the moment, it's hard to see which way they're going to go. LVG is flattering to deceive at Man United, if they were to win the title this season under him it'd be by pure default because everyone else is so poor. Man City under Pellegrini are the very definition of inconsistent and toppable and Arsenal & Wenger are turning into a running joke now.

Because of this void of dominant premiership teams with invincible auras , there's opportunity there for the likes of us, Tottenham, even West Ham, Palace and Swansea this season to stake serious challenges at European places if any of us find consistency, but similarly there's also the potential there for a club with enough resources and a top quality manager to achieve even more.

In Klopp Liverpool have a genuinely top quality manager and looking at the resources they gave to Rodgers in the last few years with only a tenth of the potential, he really could create a team capable of challenging, what is currently a low quality English elite.

Their current squad is the massive limiting factor, but in another 4 transfer windows, if the current top crop haven't sorted themselves out substantially, there's proper potential there for a Liverpool team capable of spending £50m a window with a competent manager to become genuine contenders.

they need about 20 players. none of their whole squad is proven at CL level nevermind title winning potential. barely any of them of won anything of note.

What makes people think the rest of the PL are going to sit round scratching their arses while the RS improve?
If chelsea arent involved in the top 4 come january Jose will be gone, them man city,Arsenal and ourselves have better teams than the deluded,
and last years top for can easily outspend and attract better players, add Spurs and West ham with new stadium and with a bit of luck they might
get a EL place

It makes me nervous, I feel the same way. I think he's decent and I'm scared he'll succeed.
I think he'll be head and shoulders above what rogers achieved.

They nearly won the title (and only didn't win due to the tactical ineptitude of their manager) with an additional 3 players to the team they have now (and there's even an argument to say one of those was as much of a hindrance when it mattered).

With the resources Chelsea and City especially have, it's easy for one of the top teams to sort themselves out and make themselves dominant, but for the last few years now, there's no real sign of that happening. I thought Chelsea nailed it in bringing Mourinho back and giving him a season of grace, but they've capitulated.

I'm not saying it's inevitable, but people need to appreciate with the lack of quality above Liverpool at the moment, with time and the resources he will have, there's a very good chance Klopp could do well with them.

Can't disagree with that. I think he will get them top 4 in the time he's there. But then they're in a completely different ball game. They'll have to cope with CL football and that doesn't mean resting your players against Real Madrid. Plus they'll have to maintain a top 4 finish as well as putting up with a CL campaign. They only won the CL because they were never in contention for the title and Rafael was allowed to rest his players in the league. If Klopp can do that with this current squad then he will have done a tremendous job. No doubt his signings will be better than Brendan's but it'll take a lot longer than 3 years to identify the players who'll fit into his system and wait till they become available.
