ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

They nearly won the title (and only didn't win due to the tactical ineptitude of their manager) with an additional 3 players to the team they have now (and there's even an argument to say one of those was as much of a hindrance when it mattered).

With the resources Chelsea and City especially have, it's easy for one of the top teams to sort themselves out and make themselves dominant, but for the last few years now, there's no real sign of that happening. I thought Chelsea nailed it in bringing Mourinho back and giving him a season of grace, but they've capitulated.

I'm not saying it's inevitable, but people need to appreciate with the lack of quality above Liverpool at the moment, with time and the resources he will have, there's a very good chance Klopp could do well with them.
They nearly won the title because they had a once in a generation player in suarez dragging them through games. It would take a bigger miracle than the time Jesus turned water into wine to get them anywhere near the top 4. Won't happen

they or he? he has gone, they struggle to attract that calibre at the moment, whilst the other 4 or 5 teams are buying world class talents in abundance. from the only 3 players that did it that season, plus gerrard's pens, only 1 survives and he's always injured.

there's no clear winner because the top 4 are fairly even, it doesn't mean they're not a decent way away from other teams. in a couple of years it could be a 7 horse race, but the reality is it won't.

Suarez was the catalyst for their performances and any close to level-minded Liverpool fan (is that actually possible?) will acknowledge that.

With him in the side, supporting Sterling and Sturridge, I'm pretty sure the squad picked its self. The same with the formation.

Only when Suarez left did the guise of Brenda being an 'exceptional' manager start to slip into the ether; he actually had to choose his own squad.

However back to the point at hand; Klopp is a very good manager, but taking Liverpool to the upper echelons will be a huge challenge.

They've spend a lot of money on copious amounts of average players, which has in the mainstay been funded by the selling of their prized assets.

Apart from Coutinho, who still isn't a hugely prized asset in terms of Suarez etc, they've not got anyone to fund the acquisition of top talent.

Will Klopp be able to revitalise the squad to a point where it may challenge, especially as other clubs will have money to invest?

Unfortunately, I think a top four position in a few seasons isn't an impossible, if not an unrealistic, prospect. Anything above that is fanciful.

Chelsea are in free fall at the moment, it's hard to see which way they're going to go. LVG is flattering to deceive at Man United, if they were to win the title this season under him it'd be by pure default because everyone else is so poor. Man City under Pellegrini are the very definition of inconsistent and toppable and Arsenal & Wenger are turning into a running joke now.

Because of this void of dominant premiership teams with invincible auras , there's opportunity there for the likes of us, Tottenham, even West Ham, Palace and Swansea this season to stake serious challenges at European places if any of us find consistency, but similarly there's also the potential there for a club with enough resources and a top quality manager to achieve even more.

In Klopp Liverpool have a genuinely top quality manager and looking at the resources they gave to Rodgers in the last few years with only a tenth of the potential, he really could create a team capable of challenging, what is currently a low quality English elite.

Their current squad is the massive limiting factor, but in another 4 transfer windows, if the current top crop haven't sorted themselves out substantially, there's proper potential there for a Liverpool team capable of spending £50m a window with a competent manager to become genuine contenders.

Hahahahaha.........and the delusion is back on........

It doesnt matter who the manager is, they still have the same scouts and the same transfer committee, they will still spunk billions on utter crap.

I give the German tramp till this time next season.

They cant compete spending wise and attracting the players what the top 4 can.

Just to buy a few players theyre gonna have to shift several off there wage bill aswell and theyll struggle to do that because of the wage there on, they couldn't give them away

I waited yesterday for the2 hour talk from Big Sam as he joined Sunderland, the hype from the pundits, and the text messages from over excited fans saying how great he was...... It never happened, in fact coverage was more aimed a a German guy who had joined some team the day before.

Now I am confused here as all the red tramps scream that they never get any coverage, and that man utd and chelsea get it all. So, will they be coming out screaming that big Sam hardly got anything compared to Herr Flick?

Bunch of plebs the lot of them.

He won't.

This whole thing will blow up hilariously in their faces.

This is going to more comic than owt Brent ever did.

It has started already.

Seems like he is backtracking already.

Liverpool’s trophy manager asks for time to win trophies

“People should not make me out to be like Jesus, I don’t walk on water,” he said. “I understand that there are huge expectations surrounding this club, and expectations are important in life, not just football, but I hope no one really thinks I can perform wonders. Of course I cannot. I am not really enjoying all this attention, to be honest. I didn’t ask for it and I am hoping that after the initial big hype we can all cool down a little and get to work.

“I am glad everyone seems happy I am here, but some people seem to think that because Jürgen is here everything will change. I can’t promise that. Some things will change, for sure, and I might be different to other managers in some respects, but we cannot change the whole world in one day. I am sure Liverpool fans are clever enough to understand that we need time. If things need changing I want to do it as soon as possible, but patience is important.”

Oh dear, 'clever enough'. He doesn't have time his appointment has sent the delusional Kopites into uncontrollable excitement. He just doesn't know what he has let himself in for.
Oh wow, hahahahhaha.

Says everything you need to know.
