ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Hate to put water on your bonfire but Klopp signed the likes of Reus, Lewandowski, Gündogan, Hummels and Subotić during his tenure.

Worryingly, that to me shows that he is at least to some extent pretty astute when it comes to transfers; be that if they were his actual choices

Bar Coutinho (who is still not on par of Suarez or Sterling on worth) they've not got many assets left to pawn to help revitalise the squad.

So unless FSG put their hands in their pockets he may not get huge swathes of money, but I still worry he'll make some pretty effective signings.

Personally, his appointment is a concern as he is a good manager who will probably get his squad playing well and will add some good players.
Reus was well established as one of Germany's best players before Klopp signed him.

Good post tho' it felt a bit like a cold shower.

Basically they pressed until they got tired...about half an hour into the game.

There was nothing 'full' about that performance.
The high press / high tempo closing down style only truly works when you're the side who dominates possession. Barca introduced that tact to their tiki taka under Pep and it was copied by Bayern and then Klopps Dortmund. However they were all sides who dominated the opposition most weeks as they were vastly superior in terms of personnel, therefore controlled the ball most of the time, so the high press didn't use excessive energy as they were only having to use it sparingly.

It won't work for a mid table PL outfit like the RS, as they wont technically dominate in this division. They'll probably do ok in the EL with it though.

Indeed he was, but he still lured him back to Dortmund for a price of just over £12.5m which now appears to me as a piece of savvy business.

And that's just one signing. While it may be a different and difficult challenge for him, I simply worry he'll be to some extent be up to the task.

Brenda was a clueless fool who could talk the talk, but when it got rough couldn't cut the mustard. Klopp seems different... I am hope I'm wrong!

I think Klopp adapted Dortmund as he went on. Basically he ended up with a team that got hold of the game by taking the lead and then slackened off the intensity to preserve energy.

Liverpool did this under Rodgers in the Suarez season.

Generally speaking, I honestly dont think the Kopites realise that what they're getting is season 2013/14 minus Suarez.

I think he got him to Dortmund principally because Reus was a Dortmund lad. It was his home town team and he was joining that team in its pomp.

Your inability to offer him any form of due respect is commendable. Now he's the Liverpool manager it was all luck or not very good et al.
It wasn't luck. I do give him credit for his Bundesliga titles. Very much so. But what's being pointed out here are the dissimilarities between how he achieved success at Dortmund and Mainz and what he faces now at Liverpool in this league.

The fact he wanted to sign Origi at the same time he moved to the RS has reassured me of his transfer savvy.

The operative word there is 'back'. He was a Dortmund fan. That's what really lured him back. Still a good price, though I think he may have been in the last year of his contract at BMG.

I do agree that he's a far superior manager to Brenda.

For once, I will enjoy the tabloids' stupid pun headlines if they come out with a 'Jurgen Flopp' at the end of the season.
