ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

TalkSport have been doing my head in since the Benteke thing. They're obsessing with it, but every single presenter on there is saying that, even if it was a dive, it's fine because he's quite within his rights to go down and exaggerate it if he feels contact, no matter how slight. When it was the likes of Zaha doing it for Palace, or Costa for Chelsea, they were falling over themselves to demand this scourge be eradicated from the game. Now all of a sudden it's fine and dandy. One guy phoned in to say he coached kids and he'd bollock them for doing it, and that Benteke was showing the wrong example. He was actually howled down and told he should inform the kids to 'get in the real world' and that 'that's how professional sport works'.

You mark my words, next time the likes of Ashley Young or someone goes down easily, their tune will change faster than you can say 'indefensible bias'...

It amazed me that after Moreno's foul on Aguero the media rallied behind him and said that if you give a pen for dangling a leg then basically the game's finished.

Didn't someone post one time that talkSPORT is an "official media partner" of the RS and as such are paid to talk about them constantly?

And that talk nearly always to be positive?

It is the only explanation for the way they lionise a club which the whole country outside the cult despises.

It's just utter bollo.... - sorry you start from the premise that serious foul play warrants stopping play. Deliberate handball = penalty and accidental does not. Part two of the handball debate is "what exactly is the hand?" since it appears to stretch to anywhere below the armpit for football related "handballs" which is plain rubbish frankly. As far as contact goes - well what are defenders supposed to do - be frightened to challenge for the ball? It's ridiculous when a player brushes over a defenders leg or the keeper's hands and a penalty is awarded - total nonsense and it's about time they sorted it out.

FTR from the 1966 World Cup Final. In the words of Hugh McIlvanney: "Bobby Charlton, moving through on Moore's pass early in the second half, fell after being tackled by Schulz, but the claims for a penalty were understandably half-hearted"

Those were the days eh?
Or Springett wrapping his arms round Youngs ankles in the manner of the copper on Eddie Cavanagh later in the game

I see there accounts released last week show they sold Suarez for a maximum £65 million as announced by Barca and not the £90 million that was said by them (although never officially announced by the club).
you sure that wasn't €90M which would be around that?

No, the accounts show £65 million.
No add ons for winning thing or anything, just a straight £65 as announced by Barcelona.
yeah but what I'm saying is £65M is pretty much the same as €90M, Barca deal in Euros so it's not unlikely that the Euro's figure would be floating around as well.

One day the media will crawl from out of their arse and see the twisted and spiteful myopic bellwipes who follow them.

Thankfully due to the last few years the fans of pretty much every other club in England have cottoned onto them so they're no longer "everyone's favourite second club" the fat scruffy wools.

I think unfortunately we're a while away from that. Fame seems to be a self fulfilling prophesy these days, they continue to be talked about because they're already talked about. They're essentially the Kardashians of the football world, but instead of naked seflies they have horrific dives, fouls and touchline antics.

You're right in saying that other club's fans are sick of them and hearing about them non stop; but the media is all about numbers and they have a LOT of fans all over the country.

A plague on all their houses.
