ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Champions league final, league cup final, german cup final in his last game at dortmund, german cup final the year before.

Man's a bottler, never does it when it matters.

Well I had this same discussion with dave and a couple of others over the utd tie, I was adamant they'd win it and he was sure that klopp would bottle it.

I can see them winning it, I pray they get humiliated but just can't see Seville winning it again

Because they've been winning the ties at Anfield.

They're going to have to actually win a game away from home against a decent side who (probably, given their recent history in the competition) won't bottle it, like Villareal did tonight.

Of course they can win it, but I don't agree with the idea that it's anything close to nailed on.

Wouldn't class the final as the same as an away game over 2 legs. It's a different kettle of fish

They're not the same, no, but so far Anfield has undoubtedy been getting them over the line in these ties. They've been very good at home in big games under Klopp, but they've not won anywhere else. I'm not sure I'd point to Klopp as an advantage in cup finals either, given his record.

On the other hand, Sevilla haven't been amazing either in the knockout stages, but have every reason to believe they can win this game because they've won it several times before in recent times and under the same manager. If Sevilla can handle Liverpool's pressing (easier away from Anfield) and keep 11 men on the pitch, Liverpool will probably struggle.

Probably be penalties. Their 'go to' method.

It's just pissing me off in every sodding game they play in this competition and the usual thing comes up in the match report '..... just haven't turned up tonight', '.... are usually so solid defensively, but not tonight', '.... are normally deadly in front of goal, but the strikers have been off form tonight'. It's like every team comes over so thrilled and honoured to be able to play at the fabled ground and tell their grandchildren that they forget to actually focus on the game.

I want to see an end to this business of the fans 'respecting another and drinking together before the game', having jolly photos taken and all this corporate love-in stuff at their European games. Show up for the game, generate an atmosphere, get at them and maybe we'd have a game, rather than more people joining the Anfield Appreciation Society. It's almost like it's not Politically Correct for any team in Europe to harbour anything other than deep respect and deference to the shower at the moment.

God, I hate them. I really, really do. Did I mention that I hate them? :whip:

This.

And tonight he had his players playing like madmen too.

Could you imagine Martinez inspiring our players to play like that even if they were fit enough ?
For a second there I was like "WTF Davek has turned! It's a mirrrrrrrrrraaaccccccccccllllllllleeeeee"

Then I realised avatar does not = name

I always find it harder to accept them winning when we are pretty 'close' to each other.
At the moment player for player wise we are both pretty similar, but they are light years ahead of us in mentality, workrate, organisation, seige mentality etc.
Fair play to them

I find it annoying when we have as good a squad as them, however we can't win a game where we're 2-0 up, yet they get to two finals.

There is one main difference between for the respective recent form and performances and overall seasons of both Merseyside clubs. They got rid of a dud of a manager in Brendan Rodgers after the drawn derby in Goodison last October. While we are keeping hold of our respective (Martinez should have been booted out of Finch Farm on his ass after that derby humiliation at Anfield) dud of a manager long past his sell by date.

It's like a football version of Sliding Doors. Can't believe he's still our manager, I really can't.

What makes it worse for me is that we are nowhere near Europe yet klopp has got 90 minutes away from the champions league and another European trophy.

I pray next season will be the change in all of this, but consider that. Klopp with his reputation and taking the club back into the cl so quickly? Players will fall over themselves to join them
