ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

"The economy would be booming if Liverpool win the league."

It'd absolutely crash as 50% of its inhabitants would be off somewhere else to avoid having it rammed down our throats. Thankfully it's not happening any time soon.

I know - let's ask a barrow boy about the City's commercial prospects based on a football team winning the league. It's pretty obvious the only beneficiaries would be the local hostelries.

Getting investigated for tapping up a Stoke schoolboy...

Sorry to be picky mate but Athletico hardly have a production line of sorts in all honesty. They have an eye for a striker though. forlan, Griezzman, Falcao, were all signed by them as further along strikers. Torres not sure if he was academy, Aguero was signed but started young so was stepping into the first team following Tores leaving.

It probably does not change your point whatsoever and i am being pedantic here but they have a eye for a striker, not a production line.

Don't worry, I can see where you a coming from. Production line may not of been the best phrase to use in this case, as you say these players were not produced by Atletico apart form torres.

I still think however that atleti took the players mentioned, gave them a chance and enhanced their abilities. Our examples would be say, lookman, davies (think we got him from tranmere) and Holgate/stones.

Absolutely. Over the past 10 years or more it is incredible that they can sell a striker and then replace them with the right one. Even after the last one Mandukic scored 20 odd goals after costa, they have correa there who could be big in the future, just amazing striker scouts at the club to spot them so regularly.

I think in the example you give it is less comparable but better for the club as a whole. The players like Lewen and Lookman don't represent the Athletico model but build a foundation for 3-4-5 years down the line. Lookman and Lewen won't look like first team regulars for 3-4 years yet but we have them already to develop as part of the squad.

I would go as far to say that if we had someone like whoever is responsible for replacing strikers at Atleti, then the thought of Rom leaving wouldn't be as bad as it seems right now. I know Walsh is supposed to be that guy, but we worry that rom is irreplaceable (and maybe so).

At Atletico they seem to just say yeah go on off you pop we will bring in someone else, maybe someone better lol

I think with walsh we have to dampen our expectations a little bit to what he can bring in. From my perspective so far it has looked like he will be fantastic for developing a bedrock of a club of young players which fingers crossed crosse sinto the continent in the summer and we start finding youngsters overseas. It is almost the perfect strategy for the club to adopt, a real long term effort where the squad could essentially be here for 10 plus years each rather than buying and selling mercenaries in the game.

Rom is Irreplaceable in our club. no question about that, i personally see it as him carrying us at some points with all his goals. However when he leaves then we will just adapt our attack to whoever we replace him with. If Koeman is really the right man here, he will change the final third strategy to suit the new striker and we will still flourish with the likes of Ross/Tom/Idrissa/Morgan/Lookman all making up the quality behind to implement it.

That is my hope anyway, as we have learned over the years it is best not to expect anything from the club haha!

There seem to be an incredible number of financial experts over on RAWK, as well as experts in stadium newbuilds on dockland sites.

A lot of them seem amazed that the building works aren't scheduled to start next Monday, and that the stadium won't be completed in time for next season.

Ah well, reality isn't one of their strong suits (as if they actually own suits lollol)
