You know what's funny. When I came over, I took the train to Kirkdale and walked to the county road with @Cena and he was slightly apologizing for the neighborhood, but I loved it! All those terraced houses, and tightly packed streets. It's a proper old fashioned neighborhood that doesn't exist too many places over here anymore. And when I walked from the Black Horse with @Woolly Blue and came around the corner onto Goodison Rd, and the Old Lady appeared like a vision from heaven...mate I was breathless. After the game, having a drink at the Taxi Club...unforgettable.

I'm excited about the move, but you'll never hear me slating L4. I'm reminded of the quote from Fever Pitch: "We can live near the grounds `cause it's cheap there. No one wants a football stadium on their front step. Except me. I'd pay extra."
I'll be sad to see us move but we have to.

JD, this is probably the finest post I've ever read on this forum.......

As true as that may be I'm not sure how it's related to the point on my post you highlighted, chum? It was more about the "Yay we're leaving the RS in that [Poor language removed] area and going to the docks" attitude that a chunk of Blues seems to be adopting, and advertising. There only a park between us and the majority of match going blues are from in or around that area. Seems snobbish and contradictory to our mantra of being a club of the working class people. Just my opinion.

Sorry mate I didn't realise you meant it from a blue POV. I Was talking about Liverpool fans always saying we live in a crap area of Liverpool with an even crapper stadium.
Im never surprised by the constant knocking of our ground/area because most of the time I come back from watching LFC on TV everyone is going the opposite way to the carriageways/motorways in high end cars with a flag/scarf hanging out the rear window (enough evidence for me to scream wool/LFC fan). The only part that does surprise me, is as you say, they are literally a parks width away from us.

I think a lot of the people in those cars are probably " business men " with no visible means of support and probably don't vote at all mate.

If you're on the electoral register it means the customs and Old Bill, know where you live ;)

I disappeared in about 2008 mate, currently living in costa del crime, spain.
Im no grass blud.

Forgot to actually address the point you raised, I don't think that Evertonians will be knocking the people of L4. They have a point though that in this modern era, everton need to move from what is fast becoming, if not already, run down area in general.

Trust me I love where I come from, had a great childhood in L4 because of my family but also the community, I take every negative with a positive from here.

I think those blues that may come across as 'dissing' L4 don't mean it in a derogatory way, its more of a wind up at LFC because their main stand was another reason why they are better than us 'mongrels' in 'Woodison'.

Its like a decently paid man telling you how crap your car is compared to his BMW. The second you win the lottery you go out and buy a Bentley and BMW. Bentley to drive, BMW to burn infront of his face. Just for a laugh like....

I've been to the pit three times, but only one derby when Andy King scored in a 1-1 draw (same season as 'that goal'), the other two were a Uefa Cup game my stepson (since converted) insisted on going to, and a boring 0-0 between Holland and France at Euro 96. All things considered, the place makes me physically sick.

Been to the Pit more times than I care to remember - lost a few won even less.. not been for 30 years so nearly cleansed..

Best memories: 2-0 Rats and Lineker, 1-0 Stevens in the league cup.. 1-1 Andy King when Georgie Wood had an absolute blinder (Mick Lyons ogee if I remember). Also a couple of losses to The Arsenal with Alan Ball in charge of the whole pitch.. wonderful (they never lost at home in those days).

Scored at the Annie Road end (no, not that loony bird who ended up in the Mersey) - they were doing work on the ground on the day of a Goodison Derby and walked in with two mates and found a football... (we lost 1-0 at Goodison that night).
