Incredible how often these score in the dying seconds of the first half, there are fortunes to be made backing them inplay in the 40th minute to be winning at ht, it happens time and again, real supernaturnal stuff
Black magic, mate. Sacrificing virgins works a treat.

Oh it goes without saying that the harder the team works and trains then it will tend to pick up more injuries, flip side is a team that works far too little will also pick up a lot more injuries, theirs a balance.

The thing with Klopp is though - he really front loads his preparation to try maximise the start to the season, with an absolutely intense pre season training schedule by all accounts, Koeman on the flip side seems to be the other end of the spectrum - one who seeks a very strong fitness later in the season (believe Martinez was also an advocate of that btw)

So with Klopp you have an intense style of play and training which going into the second half of the season is being demanded from players who've already ran a bit out of steam - and thats when injuries will start mounting up. Will try dig the post up i mad showing some of the main players at Dortmund mate, and the sheer number of injuries they received - and the fact a good few of them have effectively broken down to the point of being semi washed up in their late 20's

and if you're in europe i know which one i'd prefer. When you get down to the business end of the season, semi's/finals, fighting for CL places etc. you don't want the same 15/16 players who have been running around for a full year with no break to be expected to pull out performances. The exact evidence of this is the fact he's lost his last 5 finals. They're stumbling across the finish line it seems in the last 3 games, i'll see what the table looks like at the end of the season before and then i'll look forward to how he tries and balances a full season in THIS league with europe with that threadbare thin squad he has, especially considering 4 or 5 of their better player have always been injury prone. They need to buy about 10 players imo.

He's got a bit lucky (well, of his own making really) that they are in nothing else for the end of the season. They've had 2 periods of one game a week only to worry about. As soon as they hit a bit of fixture pile up they fell of the rails in January, even the mid week games since then of Leicester and Bournemouth they've dropped points. At one game a week though they can just about get the same 11 back out running round like mad dogs. Hopefully another season of this under Klopp with the extra strain of Europe could burn out the core of that squad like we saw with Dortmund.

Just have to hope that the draw is unkind to them or at best they come second in the group so are away in the 2nd leg of the first knockout against a Bayern or Real. The second leg at Anfield is too big of an advantage for them if they get to the quarters. Over two legs of the second leg is at home they could take anyone. Top sides think a single goal or two goal lead is enough and then get blitzed in a mad spell. Hopefully they end up in a group with Juve as champions and Barca from pit 2.

You're panicking over nothing here SD.

It'll be a complete humiliation for them like it was last time they qualified despite having a better side than what they have now.

They couldn't atttact the big players last time either but it should keep the pressure of FSG for another year or so.

8th or 9th for them next season with a humiliating exit in the groups if they do manage to finish top 4/qualify, neither if which I think is certain.

The importance of CL football for them next season goes beyond what group they go into in the CL. It will allow Klopp to use his standing in the game to attract a lot of great talent to Liverpool. They have the cash for wages and the ability to go regularly into the £30M+ category for player fees and they still have the pull (just about these days) of their history.

Them failing to get the CL spot via the EL Cup last season stalled that process but now it's in flow again. Klopp is a very good manager and he's proven that with the player injuries and overall poor quality squad he's had whilst there at Anfield. Two finals and a CL qualification in less than two seasons underlines that. I can see them making large steps in the next two seasons as long as they get CL again next season too.

Nah Dave, this was tried and tested last time when they couldn't attract any big name players. They looked a much more attractive proposition than they are now as well, having just put in a proper title challenge and Suarez playing up front.

Sadly for them, they're stock has fell, top players don't care for history they're only looking at the future and are too clever to shun the better options out there to sign for them unless it's for a ridiculous pay packet that they can't offer. They'll get 2 from the bracket just under that, the players the top clubs don't want, Wijnuldum etc, decent players but very costly and not good enough.
