ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Interesting post that Dave.

In something of a similar analysis, with him inheriting a squad that was at best dispirited, had an indifferent autumn period and has suffered some awful injuries losses - wouldn't you at least give Koeman half the credit you're suggesting Herr Klopp is deserving of ?
I've done that. Lost in all the blood and snot of the insults I have to put up with is the constant re-statement since at least the end of January that this is a decent season. Not out of this world off the charts great, but decent.

But securing a EL spot when the pressure is off (and when a CL spot was never the likelihood) and actually being expected to land a CL spot and then securing it (if that happens) are apples and pears.

There are 2 ways of looking at Klopp at the RS. One is that he has done well without spending vast amounts. The other is that their squad cost about £200 million pounds to assemble, and they have a number of players on over £100k a week, so of course they should be looking at top 4.

its not that simple though, most people would say they've wasted that 200m on inferior players. Indeed, look back on this thread and you'll see people's opinions of their team and their players. Just because they overspent on the likes of Moreno, Lovren, Henderson, Mignolet, Sakho, Firmino, Clyne, Wijnaldum, not to mention making Sturridge one of the highest earners, who looks like he's finished at the top level. Just because they overspent on average players doesn't make them automatic contenders for top 4.

I guess one thing you can say about him is that more of his signings have been a hit than the previous man in charge. Obviously he hasn't made anywhere near as many yet he hasn't spunked away anything like what Brenda did.

Two results I ddin't see coming after that B'mouth slip up: 6 points against two set piece specialist teams that usually give them a lot of trouble.

That one in particular was a kick in the bollocks.

Top four sorted imo.

Us Spurs and Arsenal super charged their season from their slump. All three of us turned up like lambs to the slaughter. They've played poorly v Burnley Stoke and WBA but got maximum points as those teams just do not score easy chances against them. They've not defended particularly well or are playing particularly well but when your record is so good against ft the teams around you you'll always be in top 4 contention. You can't win the league playing that way but you get big results and spawny results. Hopefully their group of game raiders will be so preoccupied on getting their hairstyles all over the tv in the CL that they botch the league again next year.

Right time of the season to play both really mate, both teams kinda gone the beach now

That's harsh. Look at how Stoke played yesterday, and Pulis sends no team out to stroll about.

It's tough to take but we cant be churlish about it: those two back to back wins were all about character...a character that we dont come near to having. Because when the pressure's on, our lot fold like a house of cards.

They did the business against the top teams as you say.

I have no major gripe about the way they've done it.

Their squad looks incredibly weak to me. Klopp has done a bang on job getting what looks like a nailed on CL spot given the rest of their run in.
