ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

New RS CEO steps in perhaps?

They know they have been on a tightrope for a while on illegal approaches - they can't afford a transfer embargo - so the humiliating statement of guilt.

For VVD, he's backed the wrong horse and I have zero sympathy for him. Signed a six year deal last year with Southampton A but flashed his knickers at the B Team to get binned off. I'm sure other interested parties will cool their interest now.

It does show VVD in a bad light to be fair, a bit like Lukaku with us - wonder what Saints fans will be saying about him, in comparison with is and Rom.

Not forgetting that this is the third time they've done this.

An U-18 and Clint Dempsey.

They have some sort of sanction hanging over them if penalised again.

Clearly backing off is their tactic here but for me, in this instance an apology is an admission of total guilt.

I don't see if an fence has taken place and they have been reported by Southampton has w the PL can't investigate, surely an apology means nothing if an offence has taken place.

If this is swept under the carpet, it's wrong, due process and a charge has to follow.

They are bang to rights here, the funny thing is I'm sure City and Chelsea have likely done the same thing and they have been done like a kipper here to flush out interest, raise the price and basically be the patsey. Then have to grovel to Southampton for the privalage. lol

Andy Nicholls and the CRC, County road Contracts to blame obviously

Christian Zeige from Middlesbrough in 2000 as well.

Absolutely, and why should they withdraw it?

Something you don't hear a lot about, but I believe a club being problematic in letting players leave gets a bad reputation amongst players and can inhibit players wanting to go there. Be funny if they upheld it though. It should be investigated anyway regardless.

I said earlier in the thread, that he won't go to them, because you would have to be a lunatic to go there instead of City or Chelsea, he is obviously not.

Southampton have played them like a fiddle, flushed out the big money clubs, used Norway as a straw man, then they have to apologise for being taken to the cleaners and being patseys.

Brilliant by Southampton.

Liverpool may have withdrawn because they thought VvD wasn't made of the right stuff for sniffing around and dissing his own club - a little bit Lukaku if you will. Maybe they want someone who doesn't threaten to move on so quickly (as he clearly did to Celtic and now, ready to leave Saints - two years at each of his 3 clubs as a senior player). Maybe 2 years down the line he'd be looking to upgrade again.

Barmby and Xavier? Heads turned. To be fair I think I turned myself on many occasion watching them two.

Didn't we also pay for Mohammed Sissoko's private plane only for the lad to sign elsewhere? Or it could just be I don't like them very much and think that they get preferred treatment over any indiscretions.
