Apparently the league will let it go if both clubs agree its the end of the matter. Not just because its Liverpool, but you shouldnt be allowed to just let it go. If an offence has been commited then it should be investigated.

For them to apologise and withdraw their interest must mean that there must be enough evidence to land them in real trouble - i've never seen a club do that before.

Also, reds fans seem to think if he puts in a transfer request they can just go back in for him....... duh.

And nor should they drop it.

Totally ageee. Like @Tubey said earlier they wouldn't stop a trial because you apologised to the victim. If a rule has been broken then an investigation and punishment should follow.

In the paper were not allowed to name they say that LFC flew VvD to Blackpool for a meeting with Klopp and then Klopp stayed in regular contact via text. Seems pretty open and shut.

Stories doing the rounds is that saints didnt really have a problem with the secret meetings etc. They, like all clubs probably know it goes on anyway. They didnt have a problem with the newspaper stories either.

What they saw their a**e about was the timed press release of Liverpool based journalists basically gloating that VVD had chose them over City and Chelsea and acting like it was a foregone conclusion that he was signing without even contacting Southampton. The club rep who got a little excited and briefed the press will be out of a job tomorrow I think.

Liverpool withdrawing their interest and issuing an 'apology' will bring closure to the matter I feel. But where does this leave VVD. I highly doubt city or Chelsea will be back in for him, knowing his heart was set on Liverpool. Secondly if he remains with the saints, him and his agent allegedly talking to Liverpool without consent of the club means he will have a lot of bridges to mend with the saints supporters. Will be interesting to see where he will end up next season.

Doubt anything will happen, wouldn't even rule out them eventually still signing him...

Still, their names been tarnished again so that's good enough for me
