ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Looks like they'll be throwing the cash about this summer, but having money and spending it well are two completely different things. £30m on Pickford, £25m on Klaassen... and if they get Sigurdsson and Keane, that's probably another £60m. Sandro looks good at that price though, to be fair."

"So big money signings, but do any of those players get into the starting XI of a top six club? Will definitely help them consolidate seventh, but don't see how it allows them to challenge top four."
there is a point there.

None of those players are immediately going to raise us up the league by themselves. Especially when the teams above us are buying much better players.

Difference is they are players for the long term, not overnight success ones so patience over bedwetting (as seems to be a popular everton phrase)

I did mean to add to what I put up there mate that sometimes you get a RS fan who speaks a tad bit of sense, apart from his "Will definitely help them consolidate seventh" remark though.

We don't care what the RS say, WTF do we care?

In a way though we are really. Improving the defence and GK as well as adding a player in each area again like last season who will hopefully have 5+years to develop and improve. Meanwhile Liverpool buy up the Saints team, West brom aren't arsed, Stoke will pretend to want to have a go and before we know it, we have improved ourselves in that 7th position.

My main concern now is that with 3-4 deals apparently going on, probably spending the lukaku money before we get it, which means where does the money for Lukaku's replacement come from?

But not important right now.

Pickford and Keane would walk into their first 11 so that post is rubbish. The irony of kopites giving other teams lectures on spending money well when they've wasted more of it than anyone else in the whole league.

I can see the point put accross, but the only way we can break in to it is buying these sort of players and hope they improve together, like spurs did with alderweirald, vertonghen, dembele, wanyama, eriksson etc. All players that at the time were not huge WOW factor signings, but have improved into better players.

We got stung last year aiming to high above our station, it seems we are better prepared this time round

Exactly, the ages of these players are ideal enough that if they get better then we are in a very good position to build upon it. If we finished 7th again next season then it would still be a good season to me as long as the players we brought in developed over the season and more importantly improved for the next season after that. Plus we are in a better position then to build upon it, for example replacing Williams with a better defender, replacing players like mirallas for better wingers etc.

It probably came across that I was questioning the RS lads "will help us consolidate seventh place" in a negative way mate, I actually meant it more along the lines of that we will be competing IMO for a top 4 place if we brought in all the players mentioned.

I hope we are mate, Especially if the like sof Sandro really kick on and become a great striker for us for more than a 10th of what Lukaku will leave us for.

I do think whatever happens next season will be better for us, even if we finish 7th, it will be a much more competitive 7th haha

Joe Hart is available and they splash £30 million on a young keeper with one good season?

Joe hart must have said no to them or there are complications as why on earth would you take such a big risk?

Pickford has lots of promise and he may well be a fantastic buy, but thats a big if at this stage

.

I am surprised that they haven't been mentioned alongside us for the likes of Pickford, Heaton and Foster. Their keepers are rubbish.

They would have to have 30m to spend though wouldn't they

There in the phantom bid relm at the minute

I suspect that they'll be doing a lot of talking about Everton this summer.
