ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Presumably the Special Dispensation Committee will convene pronto to allow Murphy to judge RS related contentious issues too.

Alex McLeish and Terry Butcher in there too. How on earth can they hand positions of responsible decision making to spanners like that?

McLeish looks bevvied half the time.

They have a say, but if it's contrary to the wishes of Klopp they're going to lose him in quick time and then they have the far bigger headache of getting a manager in who is as competent as him (and a man two years into the job and his own rebuilding programme).

If he goes Klopp will need to be on board. If I were Klopp and Lallana had just been ruled out for the first two months of the season I'd put a block on Coutinho moving.
While I agree with pretty much most of what you've said Dave I feel that Klopp, at least to some extent, is compliant in FSG's model of business.

This all stems back from his original appointment where it was either him or Ancelotti. I have on good authority that Carlo was the first choice.

However, when looking at the squad he was to inherit Ancelotti explained he'd need x-amount of money to bring in players as he wasn't happy.

Klopp on the other hand made no demands: he would simply make do until the summer. This attitude along with his enthusiasm sold him to FSG.

We've also discussed previously how their spending appears to be inherently linked to their overall business plan, something Klopp will be aware of.

So, while I do think that the late Lallana injury may scupper any move and Klopp will most probably rather keep Coutinho, money ultimately talks.

If he thinks he can bring in near on ninety odd million plus for Phil and has more than one target he can acquire, I think Klopp would go for that!

Also, if Coutinho is pushing for a move himself then the current situation may become untenable, therefore it'd be in his best interest to sell him.

However, if Klopp wants him to stay then in the end I think he most probably will unless the player forces the issue.

He hasn't rocked any boats with FSG, that's for sure. Then again, I dont think he's a manager that looks to stockpile expensive players. But if they are already in the team he'll want to keep them. Coutinho is proven quality and though a sale will offer them spending power they'd be very fortunate to replace that with it.

he probably will be sold. Maybe the injury to Lallana is being exaggerated to force up the price from Barcelona or even send a message out to FSG that all the cash coming in from Coutinho must be spent?

Reluctantly, I have to admit that on his day Coutinho can be a fantastic player and up there in the top echelons of the game which is a huge asset.

However, and it's a big however, there's always been the argument (even from within grounded Red fans) that he's somewhat inconsistent.

There's clearly those moments of brilliance but there's also swathes where he simply disappears and offers little - a luxury player so to say.

For all his undoubted talent, Klopp's mentality is based on a players continuous effort and contribution so maybe he sees an opportunity.

Will they replace the direct talent? Doubtful. Yet, Klopp may believe that he could bring in two or three players who'll suit his style more often.

To be fair this is all conjecture, however if he is wanted by Barca then I am confident we will see lots of Spanish press talk in the next few days.

They are over in Dublin this weekend.
A local DJ on a major Radio station was commenting on sports events happening this weekend
After going through the GAA fixtures and League of Ireland games he actually said this
The 20-7/18 Premier league and Champions league winners Liverpool are playing in the Aviva on Saturday
He was deadly serious
I nearly crashed the car.
The delusion is spreading

I love the enivtable quiet anticipation of the tricky reds and their pseudo Times like analysis of their players to somehow believe the inevitable " it's our year", it's absolutely beautiful to watch and is something I look forward to every year as another manager sinks more money into this years fifa rated melts.

I agree completely but I also think he's on the verge of nailing it and becoming really world class on a weekly basis.

I hope he goes.

Potentially so, therefore it's best he goes now for our sake as they won't benefit fully either from any potential transfer fee or his performances.

Yet, if FSG feel the same then that would make them reluctant to sell as they could reap further rewards - a stick or twist situation so to say.

They only bought him for a measly £8.5m so whatever they get for him when he eventually goes, they'll be laughing to the bank!
