ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I always get the feeling though that Carragher is jealous of any praise heaped on Liverpool CBs. He feels he has to protect his own legacy there, such as it is.

On Crystanbul you could hear the barely concealed delight in his voice that they'd blown it. He was green with envy and praying he wouldn't regret leaving them and missing out.

Despite all his uber red BS he would hate to see them win anything, and not because he's a "closet blue", just because he's a jealous get.
Why? Wasn't he on the Istanbul team?

I doubt a kopite would be gutted if the rs won the league
He wasn't a Kopite. He was and is self serving. The moment he hung up his boots he didn't want to be seen missing out on a title, that's for sure. He pays lip service to them now because he's cornered the media market on them. And the fact that he was seen as central to their last meaningful success means he jealously guards that as being their last pinnacle reached.

He's an utter cynic where football's concerned. The faux banter with Everton: utter nonsense. He couldn't give a flying one if we won, lost or drew with Liverpool. He's a careerist.

Let's be honest Carragher was never that good. He had a couple of good cup runs but he was a major reason why they never won the league and why they're experiencing a long trophy drought. Not quite quick enough, not quite tall enough, not great on the ball yet he now believes he's got a divine right to criticise all the other CBs in the prem. In terms of the premier league he's a complete no mark.

A cryer who got lucky when AC Milan decided they'd end their season 45 minutes early.

That team had some utter tat in it and he was barely better than most of them.

More own goals than any defender in PL history speaks for itself.

Klopp arguing with a Swansea fan last night. He really is an absolute treat when they lose, can't handle it at all. Notice how the media haven't made an issue of it though?

When they win and he's being 'dead funny' in interviews swearing the media can't get enough. As soon as they lose and he acts like the petulant little beaut he is, he's nowhere to be seen.

YOU JUST CAN'T HATE HIM

I hope this Echo reporter has been preparing himself for the backlash - changing his phone number, looking underneath his car before starting it up, sealing his letter box.

"Mere days after taking part in a Premier League classic with a thrilling 4-3 home victory over title contenders, the Reds, chests puffed out and mood buoyant, travelled to struggling opponents...A routine win was expected. Instead, though, came a demoralising 1-0 reverse to prompt much angst, finger-pointing and recrimination among the fanbase.

Such has been the case for the Reds far too often during the Premier League era. If ever there is a club guilty of becoming carried away with themselves, it's Liverpool. During the past 25 years, there have been numerous occasions when the Anfield outfit, whether unwittingly or not, have allowed themselves to become swept along by the tide of emotion that so often follows a landmark result.
The most infamous, most costly example of this arguably came during the title challenge of 2014 and the visit of Chelsea. We all know what happened next.

So desperate are Liverpool and their supporters for success – one trophy in almost 12 years, don't forget – that every major result is greeted with euphoria, every setback as the end of the world."

The footage of him 'celebrating' Mane's late derby winner last season is telling. You could tell he wasn't really arsed and was just acting like he thought he should.

"IS this what you do, pump the air? Should i shout a bit? Help me out, lads!"

With you on this one, dave; he definitely doesn't really care about the RS and like you say, I think it irks him if other RS defenders get praise.

Whilst I'm here, their level of banter is just awful.

I don't know if Evertonians have a superior sense of humour because we've needed to develop one to stay sane or if it's for another reason.

Whatever the kopites are the unfunniest cretins on the planet. I swear Carragher could tweet, 'eh lads, you reckon da bloo shoite are called da bloo shoite because they all stink of shoite?!'

And he'd get about 100,000 kopites going, 'omg Carra lad az just wrekt da bloos!'

Bunch of weirdos.
