Arsene Wenger has aimed a thinly-veiled dig at Liverpool after claiming Arsenal don't receive the praise they deserve.

The Gunners, while down in sixth place in the Premier League, could reach the League Cup final tonight with victory over Chelsea in their semi-final second leg at the Emirates.

Wenger has come in for some fierce criticism in recent years for Arsenal's slide down the table, despite winning the FA Cup three times in the past four years.

And the Gunners boss believes the media are keen to “celebrate” other teams, with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool among those clearly in his sights.

Look, we have been in a few finals,” said Wenger, speaking to the press on Tuesday. “Has it changed your mood? No.

“You celebrate some teams who have not been in a final for 25 years and yet you kill us even though we have won the FA Cup three times in the last four years.

“It’s like that, we have to live with that’

To change the mood (of the fans)? I have no illusions at all. The mood is decided by you (the press).”

Wenger doesn’t even mention Liverpool or Klopp yet the sheer paranoia and self obsession of that lot makes them think it’s about ther lot. The closing line in the echo is the best:

Klopp's Liverpool beat Arsenal to Champions League qualification last season and are currently five points clear of the Gunners in the race for a top-four berth.

Im sure everyone at Arsenal is devastated with their three recent FA cups and an almost unbroken 20 years in the CL in comparison to Klopp scraping 4th and having a small lead over them this season.

I hope Wenger wins the league cup and the Europa so that fraud Klopp is once again left empty handed whilst the media makes out he’s a genius but the trophy winners are dinosaurs.

With you on this one, dave; he definitely doesn't really care about the RS and like you say, I think it irks him if other RS defenders get praise.

He's a lad who just does it for himself. He has no allegiances.

Correct. It's getting to them big time. They know they're not at the real big team table and have been treading water since Benitez was there.

That is a very raw nerve now and they're ultra sensitive about it.

It's hilarious seeing them crack up.

Some are beginning to accept they're second rate too. Comments on the Echo article I mentioned:

- Results and performances like monday are a bit easier to take if you have 20 odd years of almost continuous success like we had for 83-84. The problem is we've had more results and performances like that than we've won trophies in the last 20 years and the media etc jump all over it as yet another false dawn.

- We're a fallen king and need to get over it. Once all conquering, we are now closer to spurs and Arsenal than City. That's just the reality of the situation.

- FSGs 8th year and we have been patient enough well more then enough!!! and FSG are the root of the problem! its got nothing to do with players its about showing true AMBITION!!! arsenal are not struggling to attract players and they are willing to spend money and there not even in the champions league! and remember when we first got back in the champions league after selling suarez who did we get? we got ballotelli and lambert who were forced on brenda by none other then FSG! and they have always given us the same excuses and always will with EXCUSES EXCUSES!!! well it doesn't cut it for me lad

- Put simply, we are the big, fat bridesmaid - the only one that fails to cop off with someone at the end of the night


10 days on since the We Beat City Cup win and they're back down to earth with a bump.
