ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Radio Merseyside phone-in after their game on Saturday, first caller up starts talking about Salah and reveals excitedly that he (the caller) has started going to the same Mosque as Salah somewhere in Liverpool. He was waxing lyrical about the player being a "humble person" and that his football success is all grounded in his belief system - one that he shares with Salah. Apparently him and his son know Mo's car and they know what times he's down the Mosque (but he wont tell anyone which one it is because "that would be wrong").

Honest to God, these people are out of control. Have you ever known a fanbase like them? They are completely 'kin creepy.
Give till Salah moves to a big club and the same fella will be nailing a pigs head to the door of the mosque

I bet they don't to be fair mate.

If you met my weird liverpool supporting mates they most certainly do, like every fan Base there's a strange group who aren't completely happy with anything, the doom and gloom merchants if you will.

"Hey salah had a great game today"

"Should've had 10 doh lar, he's the bestest player in der universe right now but he missed 8 sitters, gets dem and leagues deffo ars next year"

Conversation along those lines.... ;)

For the record he drives a white Mercedes top of the range 4x4. I know this as he smiled as we passed him on the 62 after their away game at City with me with my the palm of my hand open mouthing Five Times.

Like I said previously, I've had a nosey on RAWK and judging by some of the comments on there they harking back to their 'good old days' when they thought it commonplace to intimidate rival clubs team and fans coaches in welcoming them to Anfield malarkey.

I don't doubt some of them did it, it's just that some of those back then were in their teens and 20's, now they will be late 40's-mid 50's.

Surely not gonna turn up and embarrass all the decent folk with their sad and sorry ways.

Are they?

Thing is, Anfield has NEVER been intimidating. Not like Goodison can be. I probably wouldn't have liked to walk through Stanley Park after a night game there in the 80s or whatever, but actually in the ground it's always been fairly tame.

Those flags and that silly song just gives the ground a pantomime feel. No team has ever gone there and been intimidated by their weird fans.

This is true, but these days Goodison is not even close to being intimidating, unless you wear an Everton strip. Thierry Henry was talking about this a while ago on Sky, saying he hated coming here but now its an easy away because that threat has been drained out of the fans

Hahaha Jesus wept.

... Wait, am I allowed to say Jesus in this context?

No mate I don't. Not been to Anfield or Goodison since the 90's. Was always a bit spicy going to Anfield and Goodison in the late 70's-early 80's I thought. Although I go to Etihad home games, very rare I manage any aways through work and family commitments nowadays, and I don't have enough loyalty points to get a ticket for Anfield.
