ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

That was a million times worse than us in any game where we have registered 0 shots on target. A £500 + mill team with unreal attacking talent and one of the best managers in the world to not get 1 shot on target is unforgivable.

They totally spewed it. First goal was offside but how in an away game in the champions league quarter finals are you caught on halfway with not a single player in your own half in the first 15 mins? Totally baffling and they were up against it from there. Oxlade-Chamberlain hits the goal of his life and then you're two-nil down before you even realise what's going on.

Big thing tonight is City showed what they really were at heart, an embryonic newbie with no real credibility as far as top table European competition is concerned. They didn't have a clue what to do when the goals started flying in. Very thankful that the 3 heavy weights of European football will almost certainly be in the semis with the RS, although Bayern looked distinctively average against Sevilla last night.

Honestly wouldnt fancy Barca or Bayern against them. Real will do the job, especially as its the only thing they can win this year.
Barca will defo do them. Both Madrid and Barcelona are on another level to that lot. Bayern are the relatively weaker of the three opponents, but still better than Liverpool.

It was City, a team Liverpool always beat.

Ditto PSG.

City froze. They are a better team than Liverpool but its a cup competition and they bottled it.

Take a look at the table and tell me Liverpool are better than City then give your head a wobble.
Don't think anyone is doubting that Dave, but we all know what they're like in Euro comps.

I am strangely confident of them not winning it which is a strange but relieving feeling, usually I’d have already accepted they’ve won it.... but just can’t for the life of me see them getting the better of Barca or Madrid.

Even if they go out of the semis klopps done an amazing job this year given some of their players, Milner & Henderson ffs... overall they clearly have an inferior squad to the other teams left in the comp and yet they can still mix it with anyone.

He may not have won anything but what he’s doing with this squad is depressingly impressive. I’m more worried about them improving again next season... they are the second best team in the country imo and will only gain confidence so long as they keep improving. They’ve started making consistently solid signings as well. I worry about the future, not this season.

Is anything ever going to be done by UEFA about Liverpool fan’s consistently poor behaviour in Europe?

  • In 2005 one of their fans dropped a paving slab on a waiter’s head, despite winning the CL
  • In 2007 they branded them ‘the worst fans in Europe’ when they were stealing tickets in Athens.
  • They were involved in crowd trouble with Sevilla in the 2016 Europa League final
  • Tonight they rendered City’s team bus ‘undriveable’
I’d really love to see any other team get away with this. We were getting fined consistently by UEFA this year, and most of it wasn’t even our fault!

Bayern are finished and Neuer is still dead. They'd put about 3 past them away from home honestly.
Bayern are finished.

*looks at Bundesliga table, looks at Bayern in the CL SFs*

Bayern have WC winners in their team and European cup winners. They would ease out Liverpool over two legs.

The teams left in it besides Liverpool are Europe's elite. Liverpool are just about part of the PL elite.

SFs is as far as that lot go. No question about it.

Ditto PSG.

Definitely. Both clubs will win a Champions league one day probably no matter how much it costs but both lack something that you can't buy. Madrid have been miles off the pace in their own league this season but look like favourites for the competition because they have that special pedigree.

It was unbelievable how amateurish City looked tonight, even with a European Cup winning player and two time winning Manager leading them. I don't like calling City a plastic club because at the end of the day how else is a club supposed to crack the elite sides of the league (hope we do it ourselves) but they were a joke tonight. Looked every bit a side who had only been in serious business for 10 years and as you say it was the same for PSG in the previous round.
