ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Are you really being sniffy about a champions league semi final? I just don’t understand this POV. Yes, the media love in regarding both the RS and Spurs is OTT and quite sickening, but by your logic if we were ever to somehow reach the CL it wouldn’t be a success. I just can’t agree with that. I’d love a European knockout game at Goodison again and would view us getting one as a massive success given our performances in recent seasons.

Also I hate to point this out, but the RS have won a league cup this decade. I’d take one of those next season as well wouldn’t you?

It’s not a success for the big clubs. Do you think Real will call it a success if they lose in the semis.

A good cup run is what the insignificant clubs hope for, which is similar to the RS this season. Even we sacked a manager for losing 2 semi finals and a Europesn last 16 game.

Enjoying a cup runs is a sign your bang average IMO. Winning trophies is what the big clubs do.

I will end up enjoying this cup run and the fall out of it over the next few years when they inevitably get knocked out.

I’m still living off the league loss from a few years back, it was fantastic stuff and I’d love it to happen again next year in the same manner, it was absolutely tremendous stuff. The way they blew that still hurts them now. Imagine claiming to be a big club yet not being the best club in your own country for almost 30 years.

This will be equally as bad now as they think beating City means they’ve won it.

This is going to really hurt when the lose and I can not wait.

The level of outrage on here is nowhere how much I felt after that clearly fixed draw. Sorry, but its BS, and you haven't been paying attention to their crap if you feel different.

Edited: because I forgot about our policy on swearing. apologies

Also stuff the unmentionables in this thread talking bollocks.

Sorry for raging a wee bit while on the sauce, but this last week has been hell for an Evertonian in London surrounded by damn RS. I honestly think its not been healthy for me, but I need to vent.

This is why we'll always be in their shadow, so much mental gymnastics and hypocrisy because of the inferiority complex, are there any of us that couldn't really care less about them and just want Everton to do well?

Hmm a bit like how they will forever be in Manchester Uniteds shadow. They will end up winning nothing this season.

Mate, some of our fans ate so messed up and bitter they've actually gone over to RAWK and signed up, pretending to be Liverpool fans.

Loads of us. Proper weird behaviour.

Don't forget Atletico too - Roma finished top of that group.
They came back from 3 down vs Barcelona and shackled Messi in the second leg.

They're Italian - defending and keeping it tight in big games comes natural to them.
Relax - they'll walk this.
I dont know about walking it, but they stand just as much chance as Liverpool in that tie.

The more this tie is studied the worse it seems to get for Liverpool: they are EXPECTED to get through against opponents easily their equal, and expectation is not something they handle too well; they struggle against teams that can defend with discipline and offer a threat too; they have no great advantage with Salah as Roma know him backwards and forwards and inside out.

I think Liverpool are in for a torrid time here in this tie. They can certainly win it in a twenty minute display of attacking football, but I really dont think Roma will allow that to happen.

In short: on a knife's edge.

I wouldn’t even compare Real and star RS to begin with- Real, Barca, Bayern etc are in a different stratosphere to them (whatever their fans choose to believe).

Secondly our good cup runs coincided with declines in league form. Our manager wasn’t sacked because he lost two semi finals. He was sacked because he was getting us closer to the bottom with each passing year. If he’d reached those semi finals and seen us amass similar points totals to his first season consistently he’d still be here.

The real point though is that their is success, and then there is success/progress relatively and objectively linked to each club on an individual basis. Throwing a blanket over everyone and comparing them to the Real Madrid’s of this world is pointless. For example do you think Roma view it as “just a cup run”? Or actually is progressing deep in competitions a positive thing in regards to future planning and in attempting to improve your club? And following on from this season, surely if we were to finish 7th next year and reach a final/semi final that would have to be seen as a success? Or at the very least progress? Or if we’re not winning the league or doing the cup double should we just not bother?

My argument for this goes back to the Arsenal we’ve seen over the last 10-12 years. Look at how much those fans have moaned about Wenger and his top 4 trophy until the last two seasons. I’d say if we’d have those last ten years we’d class it as pretty successful no?

Makes a mockery of the champions league Just like the time they won it.
How can a team that's likely to finish 3rd in their own league honestly claim to be European champions? The logic just baffles me.
Can't even claim to be the best cup team as they've been knocked out of both domestic cups....

Is there anything to talk about regarding us at the moment? I don't support the RS

Hahaha you utter saddo. Your jealous of the new stadium plans aren't you? What about maybe a new manger? the massive overhaul of our squad. Massive overhaul of our major staff members.

you're so sad and know nothing about football if you think two measly games of football are worth more discussion than that. Good attempt at wumming though you fooled a total of 0 people. I think you've set a record for the stupidist kopite poster... This month.
