ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Can you imagine if we only had the image (new stadium?) and the manager to attract all those gallant players embarrassed by the RS in the CL to come and reek revenge and be thus motivated. you know, Naingollan at Roma for example.

It will be easier to forget this time around as the media will quickly switch focus to the World Cup.

Let's hope so. The worst part is when you tune into programmes like Newsnight to engage with some heated political discourse only to find a montage of Liverpool fans with that song being played in the background. It saturates the media in a way nothing else does.

The real problem is that Liverpool have the best player in the final, no matter who they draw. People might say Ronaldo is better than Salah, and of course he has had the superior career, but he doesn't involve himself himself in games very much anymore as good as he still is at sniffing out chances. Salah is the type of player who could win this final on his own, Liverpool didn't have this ability in 2005 (fluke) or 2007 as Kaka was the best player on the pitch.

Nope Ronaldo is better unless Salah dies it in a final, real and Ronaldo have the pedigree in this comp, throw in klopp and his record of choking in finals.

Smart money would be on the team who 100% won't be phased by the occasion or opponent and who have a player who always shows up in the big high pressure games.

Once a bottler always a bottler. We needed Mourinho. He's the only man who I have any faith in getting the better of them. I've got so much love for how much he enjoys it too.

Madrid = European Cup. It's a formidable foe if they face them.

I'm in two minds right now: resigned to a nightmare; still rational enough to know they're inexperienced and that they'll face an almighty struggle in Kiev against a true Euro giant whoever they face.

I have a feeling Bayern will dump Madrid. I can’t handle another 2005, if I accept they’ve won it now I’m hoping the pain won’t to be bad if they do

To top it off we’ll probably offer Allardyce a 6 year contract on their parade day

They are in the zone this Liverpool team.

They may well ride their form all the way to winning the CL. They must be joint favourites with Madrid right now. It's utterly horrendous to watch.

But hold onto this thought: for all their fine form and goals and blitzing teams - so far they've won nothing...and neither has their manager for about 5 years. How devastating for them would it be to lose that final? It would be sweet as a 'kin nut to see them crying bucket loads in Kiev with a season they got nothing from.

That scenario is still a very realistic one given the cast iron assurance they'll be playing a class team in the final

Bayern and their manager know klopp inside out and have had his measure, Madrid own this competition and have the worlds biggest big game player.

You're looking for Madrid's defenders to step up and put in a proper performance against them. Can we have any faith in Madrid strangling Liverpool's midfield? Haven't watched them this season and I'm worried the likes of Modric have lost their legs.

Madrid will definitely grind out chances. Let's just hope it isn't when they're 2-0 down.

It’s my only hope mate. If there is one team in world football who know how to get the job done in finals, it’s Real Madrid. Saying that they are going to have to show an awful lot more (form wise) in the remaining games of the season. In contrast klopp’s record in finals is awful, but alas I see them favourites to win in based on their performances against city and tonight against Roma.
They have a good chance. But no more than the other two left in it now.

We of course see looming disaster for us and understandable so. But they really haven't played the European heads of state in this competition. That was the big disappointment of Barcelona going out and leaving them to face Roma.

As said earlier though: the stakes are massive. Lose and they are utterly devastated. I for one will glory in that. Cant wait. *waves at Kopite lurkers*

Salah has won it for them on his own just like Messi or Ronaldo did for Barca and Madrid in the past. They are the top scores in the comp by a mile, can't believe it's happened as I thought like most they would struggle a bit when Coutinho left, but they have got better.
Must have missed this event. When did they win it did you say?

If Madrid go through they are up against it.

Understandable thoughts and I wouldn't shout them down.

They have not faced a team of the class of either Bayern or Madrid though. There's no need for fatalism when they are ASSURED of playing one of them. Liverpool are the one's going into that final with the pressure. It's now or never for this team. Win and they could become a dynasty again; lose and they'll fall to oblivion. High stakes. I like the opposition they face.
