ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I would sooner it be Munich, the Germans seem to have a psychological edge against the English and they are due one over the English sides in the final after United and Chelsea done them in it.
Madrid are Madrid. Ronaldo is Ronaldo. A true world class team and superstar.

That's a match up the Kopites will dread.

It's realism mate.

In the real world Liverpool are second favourites in any match up with either Bayern or Madrid; SA is almost certain to leave.

I agree mate in normal circumstances but its them in the CL.

I'm with you all the way though in just not entertaining the thought of it happening sort of.

Next Wednesday my first born is due, its also my birthday, so any chance if someone up there likes me can Roma win 3-0 next week, please? I'm hoping the two late goals bite them on their backside.

Were you surprised (and pleased) by the high line that Roma played?
Very. To be fair they took it to us and we looked ropey. I have said in previous posts that European know how is key and at times on the first half at nil nil that showed against us. They then looked shell shocked but fair play, they got a chance and buried it and the Italian know how preyed on the lack of experience on our part. Superb pass, touch and finish for Dzeko's goal. The away game is about taking the pace out of Roma's game and being auld arses. Defo not over this tie.

I'm in this camp. I do get the concern, I'm concerned myself. But the fatalism is a bit hard to take. If it was another English club or PSG or someone they were guaranteed to face I'd be besides myself right now and accept it's theirs. But it isn't, and they'll face a stern test and one probably beyond them in a tense final where the opposition will be so experienced.

I've never thought at any time that Liverpool will be holding that trophy up this season, and I still dont now. Obviously its more dramatic now, but that just means utter heartbreak for them when they do lose.
See Dave, we enjoy the ride. My hopes for this season were quarter finals and consolidate the league position. Everything else was a bonus. There is still a chance of winning it, albeit slight against Ronaldo et al but to see tangible progress, a style of play and maybe more importantly , a team enjoying how they play. My honest opinion is it will be a long time if we win the league again but players will look at the way we play and want some of it. Even the mingebags at FSG seem to get that. So if we get to Kiev, me and my lad will go and say Que Sera, Sera.

It’s just a good job the final isn’t at Anfield. The only glimmers from that game were the injuries to Oxlade Chamberlain and the two away goals meaning Klopp can’t rest players in the second leg. They’re down to only 3 fit midfielders and their front three playing nearly every game. They’ve shown how poor they can be if even one of the front three are missing. Hopefully Chelsea keep the pressure on them in the league and Klopp is forced to run his players into the ground and a few succumb to injury.

Be interesting/depressing to see how Liverpool continues to develop. The collapse under Rodgers following on from the 2nd place was instantaneous. Although I don't get the feeling that will happen under Klopp.

Still plenty of room for improvement in terms of squad depth. An injury to Firmino/Salah for any decent amount of time would have the potential to derail a season.

As much as you don't want injuries, I think you wouldn't start resting players with the final in mind now. They must have at least a week between the final and the last league game of the season. More than enough time for them to be fresh.

Defo on the injury front. Short of options. The difference I think is that Brendan couldn't believe his luck to be in the job but the bean counters can see what Klopp brings and the sanctioning of Van Dijk and Keita signings show that. A top, top keeper is needed and depth of young, hungry players to fill out the squad is too. Intersting to hear Oxlade Chambelain say "How could you not enjoy playing in this team ?" The other day.

Forgot about Keita, he will be a good addition no doubt. To take the team to the next level it is about getting that depth to the side. If the owners had anything about them they'd throw the kitchen sink at it this summer. The form Salah brings to the table can take a team towards the title - still a hard task mind with City in the way. Think United will push harder next year too, they seem to have got that formula right in the big games now which is huge.

Their fans are really something else. All standing outside the Arkles from half four with crates of ale to watch a coach drive past in the rain.

It's good to see you;re keeping your feet on the ground and know you'll be beaten. And I'll be laughing me bollocks off when you are.
