ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Ok well i disagree mate , if that’s ok ? Clearly he carries the huge proportion of the blame , For example I blame many of the other Roma fans who engaged in violence with him those waving their belts and charging into the crowd . Your use of the word literally means you don’t apportion them any blame I do . I also happen to think that some poor policing at the last two European home games means they carry some responsibility, you disagree . That’s allowed as I understand how the internet works.

Indeed.

LFC and the Biz created this climate by the former encouraging this retro display of intimidating the opposition and the latter by both facilitating it and allowing thugs to bombard the visiting team coach and then to jump up and down on Paddy wagons apparently without interference.

Last night’s attack didn’t happen in a vacumn......many on this very forum warned of such a calamitous outcome being possible if this type of mob rule was not tackled head on.

And to almost quote Isaac Newton, for every force there is an equal and opposite reaction.....so into the equation steps a tooled up mob of mirror image football crazies to join in the mayhem.

And then people are shocked when the inevitable happens.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that mate , I certainly haven’t read it . I’d expect more trouble away though , wouldn’t you ? Violence at football like this is and has always been cyclical. That’s the reason milwall still hate us or why the likes of Blackburn , I think , would have trouble with the RS at Ewood when we wouldn’t have a massive issue .

For clarification, in case it isn’t clear , I’m not justifying an attack on a 50 odd year old bloke it’s despicable. I’m simply making an observation on my opinion on the circumstances leading up to it.
you can look for reasons why something happened without makng excuses for it, absolutely nothing wrong in what you're saying mate

Mark Lawrenson has written an article for the BBC saying yesterdays win was unlike any football he has ever seen before in the history of the sport.

LOL
hyperbole at its finest, long balls with pacy players and bad defending, pretty sure that's happened quite a few times, I mean fair play to them lots of quality attached, but they haven'y unearthed a miracle cure to score goals

So a chap in scouse like attire, standing amongst Liverpool fans holding a hammer, after the Roma fans leave the scene of the attack.... Echo runs with a story about a Roma fan being pictured with a hammer.

I have to say I thought it was an RS with the hammer

Given the clobber and that of those he’s stood around that’d be my guess

So everyone has the right to stab random Roma fans now. Hey, they can't cry about it, some of their fans are knobs, reap what you sow.

Just a thought...how would you feel if someone made a similar defence for the Heysel mob?
No mate, cos we aren’t dickheads.

The Liverpool fans were just as bad as the Roma fans last night. I know an Lfc fan was badly hurt but Liverpool fans caused just as much trouble.

From having to speak to them, especially at European games they seem to have an “this is our ground we will do what we want” attitude.

Nobody deserves stabbing, let me make that absolutely clear. What has happened here is the ‘mob’ of styling yourself as a collective of ‘ultras’, throwing stuff at opponents coach’s and flares demonstrates this to a tee.

Roma are notorious for this and have seen the Liverpool fans for it and fancied their chances.

This is from last night!

Is this not behavior that is antagonistic to opponent fans?

this is exactly the kind of behavior that embarrasses themselves - I’ve got mates who go to both the Everton and Liverpool game, none of which behave like that, and willfully scorn them, the problem with a collective is now you are all fair game, you’ve stood on police vans, you’ve set off Flares, you’ve previously damaged coaches cos you are proper hard core - so let’s have it they will have said, I bet that poor fella has never raised his fist to an opponent fan in his life, but thanks to the actions of their fans they are viewed as fair game.

Sad, tragic and pathetic. It’s just a game of footy.

The Echo is as Bad as The Sun for me.

They do no research just come up with a story and that's it.

That is clearly a Kopite with that hammer but because they have a fan who has been stabbed they can't print that their fans may have provoked a fight.

First question - Who is coming from Italy with a hammer in their suitcase? Senior Michel Shieldieo?

Don't buy The Sun and Don't buy The Echo
