ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I feel for the guy and his family, so sad that a person goes to a game of football and this happens.

However, Liverpool football club, Klopp and the idiotic fans who gathered for the coach welcome have to hold their hands up and say that police resources should have been deployed elsewhere.
The club and Klopp should have put a stop to it and told fans not to gather because police needed to safeguard all fans, not just a coach. Instead they encouraged another gathering.

Having said that, whoever did this are nothing but vile thugs who have no place in society.

In fairness I think klopp has done as much as can be expected from a teams manager in telling them to pack it in, beyond that it isn't really his responsibility, the police certainly seemed very ineffective in the city game, and allowed a precedent to be set, and the liverpool fans themselves could do with acting like normal adults at a social outing, not enraged tribal morons

It's genuinely not over yet, this semi.

3-0 or 4-1 Roma and they're out. Roma don't have to fret that much about the first Liverpool goal either in terms of approach. They pulled this off against Barca ffs. They could easily make a real fight of this yet and won't have given up.

It's very unlikely, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility either.

Before anyone gives me the generic "Don't do it to yerself m8 it's hopeless", I'm not going to be remotely surprised or disappointed if they go through. Just pointing out that it's not quite over yet.

The fact that their manager has had to publically ask his fans for calm before a game tells you all you need to know about that lot

I don't recall a time when a manager has had to ask his own fans to tone it down.

I read the echo where it said it was just kids on the vans causing no harm. That's nice of all the mum's and dads to give their little ones flares to light up on top of the nice friendly police van isn't it. Someone has just mentioned it was bound to happen as they left the police vams unattended but that's weird that as I've never had the urge to climb up on one and act like a tit and I'm pretty sure my little lad and my little girl haven't had the urge either.

We saw enough in the first 20 minutes, and the last 10 minutes, last night to believe that Roma can crack their defence on more than one occasion. Three goals in 90 minutes. One every 30 minutes, not impossible...

They have a good chance. But no more than the other two left in it now.

We of course see looming disaster for us and understandable so. But they really haven't played the European heads of state in this competition. That was the big disappointment of Barcelona going out and leaving them to face Roma.

As said earlier though: the stakes are massive. Lose and they are utterly devastated. I for one will glory in that. Cant wait. *waves at Kopite lurkers*
Bayern have gone out in recent years against the top teams with European pedigree in numerous semi finals. Although it can be argued Bayern are the better team at present, I’d still prefer real to face the RS in the final, as no team in world club football has a better pedigree in big games. They just know how to get over the line in numerous big games.

How can Spurs and the RS be in the same pot, Dan?

I thought it went on league placing now......Champions go in Pot 1...runner up in 2.....3rd place in 3.....4th in 4

Is that not the case?

No, holders and top 7 nation Champions in POT 1, the rest by coefficient.

I think this is a key point.

2-5 is way better for them than 1-4 would have been because if they were leading 3-1 or even 4-1 then a second RS goal will not stop the game dead in its tracks.

And of course those crucial away goals will make this a much less comfortable 3 goal lead than the second leg versus City was.

And if they can keep Messi and Suarez out in Rome then they are well capable of keeping Salah and his pals out as well.

I'd give them more hope with heynekes than guardioa

The kids were left to their own devices whilst their mum and dad were busy trying to storm into Alder Hey.
