Apparently it’s open season on Madrid because in a tie they were 3 up in they took their foot off the gas and this is evidence of their defensive weakness (a weakness PSG, Bayern and Juve couldn’t exploit in any other game). Liverpool concede 4 (could have been 8) and apparently that doesn’t count because the tie was over, Van Dijk is still a Rolls Royce whilst multiple winners such as Ramos, Marcelo and Varane are ‘flaky’.
Couldn’t make it up. If Zidane gets Madrid to the game with his first 11 fit and in form it will take a huge performance for Liverpool to beat them on a neutral ground. Instead they’re acting like it’s going to be a walk in the park, as though Mowbray’s West Brom team have rolled up at Anfield and are fumbling it round the back nervously.
Madrid took a B team midfield to PSG and absolutely decimated them at the Parc de Princes. They then just utterly dismantled Juve on their own patch. I’m the return leg once they snapped out the lull they just turned the pressure on and went up to a gear Juve couldn’t live with. Bayern are an incredible side and Real outsmarted them home and away, again.
There’s no way to predict the game, but the lack of respect in the English media for this Madrid team is absolutely baffling. This Madrid team have absorbed everything in the CL and La Liga from Simeone’s pressing, Barca’s tiki taka, Juventus’ defensive steel, the individual brilliance of PSG, the wing play and physicality of Bayern and have always found a way past them so far yet the kopite establishment is certain a bit of counter attacking kick and rush to three quick forwards will blitz them (despite the fact it hasn’t blitzed any decent team outside of Anfield apart from Porto).
Madrid would still think they could win the game if they were 3 down, thatsvthe level of belief they have in their ability. But apparently a bit of hard running from Hendo and Milner will be like nothing they’ve ever faced before.
