ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

It's Started

2PM this afternoon, walking past a town centre pub (alkies only one, admittedly) and I heard YAWN belting out. I'd have to throw up if that came on with me inside a pub.
Yeah saw 2 scarfs hanging out the window of a house by ours
...it’s odd but these isolated sorte’s to the Champions League Final feel worst than when they were dominating the English and European game.
Totally agree mate. Can't get my head round it but it seems to hurt more and plays on the mind more. Maybe because we know they shouldn't be there cause the champions league is so diluted added to the fact the pure unadulterated luck they get in the competition beggars belief.

...it isn't luck. Thanks to the Beatles, and LFC's golden era in the '70s and '80s, Liverpool is a global brand at the top of the tree (with Man U, Barca and Real). This reality influences matches involving those clubs. It just does.

Real Madrid are the ultimate experts in winning this comepition.Obviously we would prefer if Liverpool weren't in the final. But at least it's Real Madrid they are playing.I can see Ronaldo having a field day against that defence tbh.

I didn't watch the game last night and I try to avoid watching them really. Occasionally when they are doing poorly I'll have a watch to laugh but it's much better for my sanity to avoid them.

That being said, from a distance I really fancied them for the Champions league this season. The stars aligning and all that. To me there were 4 teams who would beat them over 2 legs, Bayern, PSG, Barca and Real. The fact they've avoided all of them in the knockout phases is incredible. I also think United knock them out over two legs, so you can throw 5 teams in who likely beat them. I also think, currently LFC match and arguably beat anyone on there day.

However the glimmer of hope for us might just be Buvac leaving. It was broke by a journalist who stated there had been a big falling out. Subsequent to that they were underwhelming in a 0-0 against an appalling Stoke team, and got hammered by a Roma team really there for the taking. Conceding 4 won't help them and it will really be in there heads.

Longer term, I do wonder if Buvac going could be a critical moment. Benitez never really recovered after losing his assistant. Some managers can chop and change assistants and it works ok for them. However Klopp has always been very close to Buvac and most seem to suggest he's the brains behind the pressing system, whereas Klopp makes the much better front guy/motivator. Given he's always had him as an assistant I think it will put a lot of pressure on Klopp and Liverpool and could undermine them next season.

We just need Real to do the job in the final. I think if they do, this could easily be a high watermark moment.

I'm looking forward to it. Humiliation and exposure as pretenders in front of a world-wide audience. Bleating and wailing about how unfair it was. New and extreme excuses for failure. Deranged blame of anyone or anything else for failure. Their tears will be nectar, their screams of pain will be music.

Ah well, they hate you because your winning things, just rub it in their faces the way they like to rub any win in every other club's face.
It's not my style to rub it in other clubs fans noses mate. I have Man-ure mates who really took the p!as when we were completely bobbins, i took it but by Christ did it hurt. I like it when they have no choice but to admit we are the top dogs in Manchester nowadays, and that soothes the pain nicely from when we suffered their ridicule for years and years. It may well change in the future but I'm living the dream whilst it lasts.

When they get beat: their season produced nothing. Nothing to build on because they were the same also rans in the PL they were last season; and nothing to build on because Salah will be taken from them...and he'll want to go.

As an aside, All the teams in the CL semis are far better than us of course, but as the best in the game at present, well it shows how poor things have become. They all defend like mediocre school teams, loads of cheap goals and schoolboy scorelines. They are not good games, some great players of course but such dismal defending that the goals are not worth too much. It is pathetic!

It's because defenders these days - especially FBs - aren't defenders. The game's becoming largely contact-less, so why bother with players who's talents are in stopping others playing?

The City is going to turn into a cringe fest. If they are acting like that outside the ground then they will take this opportunity to deck out the City in flags, scarves and utter crap like we’ve never seen before.
As for the red echo....................
