ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

'Ferguson is clearly unimpressed with the lengths to which Liverpool have gone, including Dalglish's decision to wear a Suaárez T-shirt during a television interview on Wednesday. "I don't need to talk about it," he said, before adding pointedly: "I'm happy with how I run my club."'

Their character assassination of him is absolutely terrible.

The club needs to issue an apology. In their OFFICIAL RESPONSE to the verdict, they erroneously claimed Evra had twice before complained to the FA of racism and had been disproven both times. This as everyone knows is not true, he himself made no such claims.

For such a personally damaging claim to come from Liverpool Football Club is downright libellous, and I'm surprised more hasn't been made of it.

Unless Liverpool go into damage limitation mode quick sharp, and issue full apologies to all and sundry, they're not going to come out of this in a good way at all. Should be an interesting couple of days.

The Stan Collymore stuff on twitter is ****ing deplorable and I'm sure the vast majority of the level-headed, non-scum fans would agree with me on that. On an interesting side note, I've got Diego Lugano and a couple of other Uruguayan players on facebook and they're all going bat**** crazy over the whole thing in Uruguay.

Interesting that Poyet and Forlan never had these cultural difficulties. If it was a term of endearment, would it not have come up in training (and been put right) rather than during an argument with a rival?

The FA have a responsibility and they have to consider U12 games all over the country which is why a modified ethnic slur can't be endorsed. The fact that it's tolerated elsewhere is of no consequence.

Thing is even in Uruguay if you said that to someone you didn't know then it's pretty offensive.

If you then said the same thing (little black) to a little black guy that you don't know and are arguing with then it's a racial slur and offensive.

A few of his colleagues and fellow patriots posturing behind him doesn't make it right.

Using negro or a form of it in Britain is very offensive and he defo knew that. He was trying to get a rise out of him and it's blew right back in his face. The scramble to contest his innocence now is a bit un-nerving.

The only thing that didn't sit right with me was Evra calling him "South American". We won't know before the evidence is released whether he'd called him the n word prior, but if Evra choose to address him as that from nowhere it's a bit weird.

Laughing at this whole "he called him Sudaca first" thing. Did he [Poor language removed] and they know it.

When I first heard about Hernandez using negrito and Evra calling him a South American it all seemed a little bit too convenient to me to be honest.

It seemed a bit odd to me. I can only assume it's one of two things, Evra reacting to being called negrito prior to that moment or simply Evra being a bit of a tit.

I wonder if that was covered by the committee. Should make interesting reading.

If it's true it's probably Liverpool's best line of defence when it comes to an appeal. It does seem an odd thing to say though.
