What does Rathbone's book say, was it an acrimonious parting?

Read it and enjoyed it.....especially about his time at Halifax Town.

Never say never.....Irvine wouldn't surprise me at all....lots of people at the Club have a lot of time for him still.

It is a great book, as Rathbone has done lots of things - player, manager, physio.

It wasn't an acrimonious parting, but you could tell by reading it that Rathbone did not want to leave Everton. The implication in the book was that time had passed Rathbone by, he was old school and it was implied that he was struggling to get to grips with the modern methods of physiotherapy.

Sharing beans on toast as a post match meal on the way back to Halifax in a minibus was a highlight, as was the one where he got injured, writhed around and then realised he was also the physio so had to treat himself.

I like that team as well but Jags, Stones and McCarthy are all likely to be out so who would you play instead of them.

I think Mccarthy will be okay tbh wasn't he taken off just as precaution? Without our CB's I would go:

Robles

Coleman Alcaraz Barry Baines

Besic Barkley Mccarthy

Mirallas Lukaku Naismith

Go 4-3-3 and get besic and Barkley to get the ball and get it forward to the front 3, with Mccarthy acting to as the main CDM. Think we would take hull completely by surprise. These are the things martinez needs to do but he's too rigid in how he wants to play. We all know it will be:

Robles

Coleman Alcaraz Distin Baines

Mccarthy Barry

Mirallas Naismith Barkley

Lukaku

We have played 433 a few times, including against Liverpool this season, so feel you are being a bit unfair saying he is too rigid to use it. It is more solid defensively but it can limit the space available to our fullbacks to run into.

My grandad could go past that centre back pairing without breaking sweat they'd be that slow and he's been sitting on top of my nans mantelpiece for 12 years in an urn.

Sad ain't it. Shame the only other option is the man who made aluko look like aguero in our last encounter

Here you go @davek

point 1.webp point 2.webp point 3.webp

Now are you going to answer the questions I asked, or do your usually and evade

Baz rathbone and that yank gone too. Dropping like flies that department.

To be fair, Baz Rathbone left 4 and 1/2 years ago.

Steve Tashijan going at the end of last season was a bigger loss, as he was the 'Head of Sport Science and Conditioning - End Stage Rehab Specialist'. That's clearly the area we've had problems with.

Nearly 5 years ago? Wow, feels more like 2.

Time flies mate. May 18, 2010:

Rathbone’s exit follows a tumultous season of injuries at Goodison, which has seen a string of first team stars sidelined with serious set-backs. The popular figure nicknamed Baz around Everton’s Finch Farm training ground, had been tasked with planning the rehabilitation of players like Mikel Arteta, Phil Jagielka, Victor Anichebe, Yakubu and Marouane Fellaini last season, and news of his unexpected farewell emerged late yesterday.

Eerily similar to today's news.

We loved him so much as that spotty little ranga bass player and then he done all them drugs and we showed some faith now he repays us with all these hammies.

You're off the bus mate.
