2022/23 Ellis Simms

Whatever that finish was at Old Trafford, showed me the level he’s at. He hasn’t really had a proper go and probably should’ve been ahead of Maupay, but I still can’t see him ever being the answer for us.
He played 200 minutes, had two big chances and missed one. Therefore crap.

McNeil should play on the right is still his worst take ever.
That take is still correct but at the very least McNeil should be highly discouraged from ever trying to go toward the touchline on his left foot and cross and highly encouraged to get into areas where he can shoot.

You'll try to argue that even though I think it is honestly a very agreeable take. The guy can strike a ball! He can't beat his man for pace!

If Ellis Simms is one of our main striking options this season then we are in for another relegation battle.

He is 22, had two loans and now needs to start building a proper career for himself, but certainly at the moment he isn't good enough to get that amount of minutes with a Premiership team.

Sell him now and put a buy back option of about 20m on him for possibly three years.
If he does so well we want him back then it is still cheap and whoever buys him would make a big profit

I think he is a player that can have a good career in the Championship or maybe in time even with a lower level Premiership team.
Think your first and last paragraph are almost arguements to keep him.
We are likely to be in a relegation battle because so far we are only weakening the side.
While he may be a level below a top premier league striker, he is currently the best option in the squad to play the whole season and bag 10+ goals

Morning, just to comment, I really don't see him getting 10 goals.

That doesn’t equate to being able to play on the right mate. It’s not FIFA, just putting a left footed player on the right doesn’t make them automatically able to drop a shoulder and cut inside to the edge of the box to score a nice finesse R2+circle shot.

I’d take 8.
Im saying that the best option is to keep him… more that we have no one better at the minute. I can see us on the first of September having failed to secure resembling a decent striker. At that point simms on the bench would look a good option

I've seen him do it, even just in fleeting glimpses, to want to see it tried more.

I can think of at least four goals on his left foot which resulted directly from the fact he played off the left on his natural side.

Away to Southampton
Home to Brentford
Both goals away to Brighton

Shouldn't let him go, the lad is the future of Everton and could take off like DCL did.

….if he’s the future of Everton, we’re in big trouble.

I watched DCL in an Everton U21 game & predicted on here that he’d make his debut before Christmas, which he did. He forced his way into the team and even played right wing for a spell. That was because he troubled top flight defenders every day in training. The manager knew what he had.

We’ve had a striker crisis for 2 years & Simms has still struggled for game time because a series of managers don’t rate him. It’s quite simple.

Like to have seen him a bit more - hes a cool finisher in the goal at Chelsea - Maupay could only dream of scoring that ......
