Scoring means he may be a natural he scores on loan a fair bit - Maupay could not hit a cows backside with a banjo ......Simms never played for City u18s , he was released by them without being offered a Scholar contract. It was his second season at u18 for us that he scored all those goals, 46 or something . He would never have got this far if he’d stayed at City, he just doesn’t match their style for youngsters. It’s great credit to our youth coaches that they slowly and carefully improved him.
Maupay in the championship was scoring worldies. Watched him a few times and looked like he had it all at that levelHe's scored 20 goals in a season once in his career so far, so we don't magically "have" that - we'd need a whole team to create and a big man the get the ball to him for easy tap ins, as that's just about all of his goals ever.

People should probably decide whether he doesn't have a striker's instinct or has made a successful career for himself where the only goals he's ever scored have been tap ins. It can't really be both. He's scored 20 goals in a season once in his career so far, so we don't magically "have" that - we'd need a whole team to create and a big man the get the ball to him for easy tap ins, as that's just about all of his goals ever.
Exactly this. Rose tinted glasses are being worn by a few when it comes to Big Vic. He was in a better team and woeful in front of goal. His record is atrocious and I don't remember anyone being sad to see him go. Stayed for far too long. How many chances did he get, yet Simms should be jettisoned after playing a couple of games. Anichebe made 168 appearances for us scoring 26 goals. 1 goal every 6-7 games. We've sunk to all time low when we're wishing for players of this calibre to be back in the team. James Vaughan pre-injury I could understand but not Vic.I mean we also recalled Simms (LIKE A NEW SIGNING HEY) just so he can also sit on the bench when we have no strikers apparently.
It is very Moyesy but it's also what people on here are saying, as if we have a million other choices and we're not picking a 22 year old with about 70 games under his belt lol It's how we had Anichebe being "one for the future" age 26 as well lol
I think that's kind of the point isn't it? Nobody is saying they wish we had Anichebe because he was amazing, they're saying that things are so bad that someone like Anichebe would be a massive improvement at the moment. It's hard to disagree. Even the decision to get rid of Rondon looks questionable now to be honest. I absolutely slated the bloke but a big lump to knock the ball up to would be pretty useful at the moment, and wouldn't you just know that we had one and released him on a free just as he would have finally come in handy.Exactly this. It's neither, he's absolute manure.People should probably decide whether he doesn't have a striker's instinct or has made a successful career for himself where the only goals he's ever scored have been tap ins. It can't really be both.
But... he can? He's just tall, not an immovable object.
Not like Maupay does anything in that regard as well anyway.
Or maybe Dyche wants someone who's tall, mobile, strong, good link up play, excellent at finding space and heading and pacey too. I too want us to get Lewandowski but alas don't think he'd want to come here for some reason.
Will hopefully be decent for us next year then !!Maupay in the championship was scoring worldies. Watched him a few times and looked like he had it all at that level
Anichebe couldn’t find the net on a regular basis in a better team so in this team I think he would be as isolated and ineffective as the rest. Until we have midfielders who will push up and support the front man then we’ll carry on struggling. Their inability to read the game is a real problem. The lack of pace also means a big man can try and hold the ball up but they are far too slow to arrive in support. The Arsenal game is a scary prospect. Just need a battling performance and to not get hammered. If we can escape with a draw I’ll be over the moon,I think that's kind of the point isn't it? I'd give Simms a run yes he is raw and isn't an all round target man but he might get on the end of few. And if we go down which looks likely tbh he will be on of our forwards in the Championship
