Mick I'm older than you but I used to be really into rap back in the 80's when it first got started. Run DMC, Whodini, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy. That was my thing.

Do the younger generation like you ever go back and listen to the old records like Rock fans do with the Beatles and The Who and such?

I still listen to the Beatles from time to time, they are awesome! But yes of course, I don't just listen to today's hip hop, my iPod dates back to 1988! I love listening to Wu Tang and Eazy E amongst others! Rap was amazing in the nineties.

Chico, your lines don't make sense so lets analyse them:

Imagine bein at the top with the cash,
Money in my pants, 50 notes in a stack/goin on tour all around the world, attractin rancid whores an gettin down with the birds/

Ok you need to go back further.

You MUST listen to Paul's Boutique from the Beastie Boys. You must listen to It Takes a Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back by Public Enemy. You MUST listen to Run DMC "Raising Hell".

Go do it lad and report back. You'll thank me.

Wot makes me slick...makes me tick and kick..I'm a lyrical miracle .....slamming beats almost clinical...du bruvvers are close... Bitches and ho's ...anythin goes....even fingers an toes... We be getting real...coppin a feel..a steel...in the streets is where I lay my beats.. The stoops all around me, gangsta surround me..is my roots...is where my feet sprout shoots....an my homies they know me ...this is common ground...ain't no bullet or shank around here to be found....home x

Just practice makin words rhyme and enjoy the art form. What I love about rap is that I can make words rhyme that you wouldn't think rhymed. It doesn't work when reading it but it does when you hear it.

We'll move on to punch lines and multis further down the line

Right, I'm sort of getting where yo is coming from mate. When I practice them in a room on my own should I do hand signals like the rappers do to get into the spirit? Should I practice in the mirror?

No, no hand signals and no mirror, don't follow the stereotype, people move their hands as in a way it can help getting words out, I tend to stand or sit still.

Put some headphones on and listen to anyone you're interested in. Listen to Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor. I love his storytelling.

MIck have you heard the classic pioneering hip hop album from 1982

"Rising Damp" by DJ Rigsby featuring Beck 'n' Sale ???

Yo, frow me a beat GOT, checking one two, one two. I'd **** you all up, smack you up, slit you up but it's past my bed time innit blud.
