I think developing football nations would benefit from foreign influence in their game.

Countries like England should never have a foreign manager imo.

Just the way I think it should be. Potter and Howe are there, Carsely as well, but we're throwing a lot of money on a big name club manager.
Or the English managers are just not as good? The player pool is hilariously stacked currently, but the managers you've mentioned are Graham Potter, Eddie Howe and Lee Carsley - nothing major ever won between them in their managerial careers. The most successful is Potter and his success was in Sweden.

The argument for developing countries I get, but the issues there aren't managerial, they're deeper than that, so it doesn't matter if the manager would be from abroad or not.

There needs to be a proper discussion on why we don't develop good coaches, definitely

But in the spirit of international football id like it to be a case of you go with what you've got in your talent pool with the bigger footballing nations.

It's a fair point but to counter that you can compare the records of Luis Enrique and Luis de la Fuente

I think it's obviously a complex problem but the only managers ever considered are usually the PL ones, for better or worse, and that's basically a clique nowadays where the entry is nearly impossible, so you just spin the same names when you have to. Tuchel isn't English obviously but he's the same - came in as elite, did... okay, now he's thrown around any job around the PL, us included, and obviously the national team.

There's no chance there aren't good managers in the lower leagues but the only way they'd be noticed is if they were already a famous footballer or if they bring a project from the ground up, which could take about 10 years to reach the Prem and if you want it to be consistent, and by that time you're already stereotyped.

Basically, no one does what we did with Moyes - a young up and coming manager given a chance in a bigger club to prove himself. It's (big) names from abroad or ex-players before anyone's ever considered for the most part.

If you're a young English/British coach you're probably better off trying to go abroad if you can. Otherwise you run the risk of just getting stuck in the Championship yo-yo cycle.

Pretty poor that Engerlund have to go to Ze Fatherland for a head coach.

The richest league in the world should be able to produce it's own managers.

But, needs must.

Rather have a winner than Southgate.

I just find it pathetic that the British media have already started slandering a genuine Elite manager.

The best manager we would of had in decades in charge for England.

"but boohoo he's not English, think of HOWE AND GARETH!"

JOG ON THEY'RE BOTH SHYTE

Tommy to take us to the glory days.
