England November a Friendlies vs Chile and Germany

I see the captain of England is about to cry off the German game with his 'hip injury'. That must be a bad one to keep him out of two games for his country...the one he'll lead into the world cup.

He wont play in the Derby then after having to unavoidably miss two games for his country through injury.

Oh what a captain

Soft we are at this club. Big Derby ahead and they dont tell/pressurise these players to pull out of pointless friendlies with a niggle. Small club approach that sets us apart from clubs that mean business.

Upshot: Liverpool go into the Derby fresh as a ****ing daisy, while we have players knackered from two games in five days...last 20 minutes in the Derby it all could tell.

It's unfortunate for Sturridge really as you'd think these would be his last couple of games to impress before the squad's selected. Hopefully he won't be too disappointed when he doesn't make it.

He'll be there. As will the likes of Henderson. They'll puit in minimum effort in the qualifiers/friendlies and get to go to Brazil.

Good isn't it. It'd be interesting to know when clubs and players started taking the piss out of international football.

It's right that they should too. It's a blight on football. My only complaint is that we dont have our players in that frame of mind to skip games...probably the answer to that is we have owners who like them playing for England/Belgium whoever, because it increases their profile and selling price.

International football has hosted some of the greatest footballing moments and matches ever witnessed.

I'm not sure our players Barkley, Jags and Baines would pull out because Martinez told them too, players like Gerrard know he can skip the matches and go to the world cup, he is the captain, even tho he a **** one. Sturridge also got the ego to do the same trick as Gerrard and know he will get into the squad for Brazil where our players are still trying to prove themselves

I've enjoyed World Cups/Euros before. But it's never had this much of a drag on club football before and is now in danger of seriously derailing seasons. It's just not on. I know this is a WC season but these games have been coming thick and fast for years and they're wrecking the chances of teams like us who have decent players but not the squads to cope with the claims made on our players.

Exactly, they get thought of no better anyway if they either pull out or pull their tripes out.

There's Big Nose Woy in the papers not half an hour ago telling the world he hasn't got a foggy who'll be his number 1 LB out of Cole/Baines or the other pretenders coming through like Shaw or Gibbs. It's a thankless task for our players.

As I say though, the problem lies higher up with club owners who want players with England caps to sell on at more of a profit.

I would have liked to see a new England team in this world cup and start getting them used to each other for the next Euros.

I would have dropped the likes of Lampard and Gerrard for this world cup and started with Wilshire, Barkley and Delph in midfield.
