New rules introduced a little while back, you can't intrude on the ball when it's aimed at the stumps, or change the direction you're running in (ie run in front of the stumps to protect them).
Yet a batsman can not, only kick the ball away if the ball is rolling back on to his stumps, he can now use his bat, in my playing days that was out for hitting the ball twice, so if u aim the ball at a batsman going for a run its out like today's game it should be only if it stops the wickets being hot or stopping a wicket keeper or fielder receiving the ball to stump you out this was not the case - stupid rule!

If the ball was going on to hit the stumps well maybe yes but the thied umpire should have checked it was going to miss so whats the point?

Stokes' obvious intention was to move to protect his stumps, he wasn't to know whether it was actually missing or not.

Yeah, this Joey, he doesn't know at the time if the throw was going to hit or not, but his intention to deliberately stop it hitting the stumps is what breaks the rule.

You're still allowed to defend your stumps immediately after the ball is bowled as it's still live if that makes sense.

It's cricket though, there's plenty of daft rules! lol

Taylor looks a good batsman to me going forward. Wonder if it would be worth putting him in at 4 when Root returns and have a couple of accumulators in the side. Also think Ali needs to bat where Stokes is and Bairstow must be pushing Buttler. Still, some good options going forward and I like the look of the attack if we play Finn, Willey,Stokes, Ali and Rashid. How many players is that, 15?

Yep. Morgan chucking a hissy fit about this is a tad embarrassing now. If you don't like the decision get over it and move on. No point in bringing the whole etiquette of the game into it.

It's very pot and kettle from Morgan, considering a few years ago England ran out Grant Elliot when they played NZ after he collided with Sidebottom. I'm not sure if Morgan was in the team, I know Collingwood was captain, but they've been bad sports in the past.

The word 'beaut' was invented for him.

dear oh dear few words and a dirty look or two

If he was playing football and did the equivalent it would've been penalty and red card.

I neither know all the new rules nor care to learn, but what he did, call me an old sentimentalist, but it wasn't as they used to say, 'Cricket', in the moral sense.
Up there with the under arm bowling incident or carding a false score in Golf.

Short version; Cheating. feet shouldn't touch.

Taylor flatters to deceive for me. I think he's trying too hard and is struggling to adjust at the highest level.

It was out, no further discussion needed in my opinion. This fuss has arisen because of the difference between real time and slow mo, yes in real time you could argue but in slow mo his hand actually opens and it is nearly 100% certain that motion was deliberate as there was no other reason for that action, thus out.
