England v Hungary

Deserved point for Hungary, but I felt they should have been pushing for the win as much as we were. If the Albania/Poland game resumes and remains 1-0 Poland then it all but rules the Hungarians out of the picture as Poland would be 6 clear and have a better GD and they play each other in the final game
Right? Couldn’t wrap my head around then being content with a point. They’re miles back on goal difference even if they make up the 6 points. They’re basically done now unless I’ve missed something.

The football seemed like a flash back in time tonight. Just throw a high ball into the area as soon as. Every free kick and corner was so predictable. And how Horrenderson is getting anywhere near that squad is beyond me

Good job the Hungarian fans weren't females holding candles .... The police would have got rough with them.
I wanna understand how our police force got retreated by their fans?

A group of women holding a candle lit vigil got treated with heavier hands by the police.
London Met in matching jumpsuits, skip hats and flyswatters get decked by a dozen man bagged, flip flopped wearing Hungarian tourists.

As much as he’s captain and main goalscorer, Kane really shouldn’t be playing for club or country, he doesn’t seem in the right place head wise
I can't help but feel Spurs and England are both ruining him.

He's clearly operating at like 50% fitness, mentally he's all over the place. Why he needed to spend two weeks away in Andorra and then start against Hungary baffles me.

Just leave him to rest, and get back to normal. Spurs need to give him a week off too. They've played him in every game he's been available this season.

Embarrassing.

One of their own known as "the rapist" who got away with exposure and subsequently committed rape and murder, created an understandable reaction from peaceful female protestors who were dragged, hit etc.

A group of racist neanderthals who have no place in society jeered an antiracist gesture and abused a steward were allowed to continue watching the match after assaulting the police for arresting one of their fans.

I watched the Rodney King documentary last night.... Whilst I have good friends and relatives in the police force who I know are good, there is much to be desired by the people who run them and walk amongst them.

Was very disappointed by the performance last night but now just think we tried something new that didn't come off and it's no biggie. Either we keep working on that system or go back to tried and tested. Let's see the reaction against Albania.

Although there is a part of me that wonders whether the squad/job might be starting to outgrow Southgate. He's done a brilliant job so far but I couldn't imagine him being able to coach a side to play like Mancini's Italy or Enrique's Spain. But let's see how things go. I think this is a bit of an awkward phase because all of a sudden there is huge competition for places in the team.

100% this.

It's like Moyes. Said it on the last page too. He's a good solid, compact manager and gets some decent results. However, when the chips are down, and he needs to get the most out of his players, he often goes cautious, and subsequently disappoints.

He's the best manager since Robson for me, he's got the country (outside Merseyside) enjoying watching the national team again, but his limitations wil kill him. Honestly had a discussion about this at the game, and I think Potter is the perfect person for the job. Good, strong personality like Southgate, got tonnes of respect, but ultimately has that attacking side Southgate lacks.

He is NEVER getting sacked, so we'd better get used to it

I do think he is too cautious. But TBF he also did learn lessons from 2018 and improve for 2021. So let's see how the world cup goes. Playing cautious functional football doesn't necessarily stop you winning tournaments as Portugal and France have shown. I could see GS in post till the 24 Euros and then maybe a change. Unless Qatar goes badly.
