Well basically mate, your letting others ruin it for you.

I hate the Southerners, but that's only half the country. I'm not a royalist, so the national anthem doesn't ring true for me. I take my roots deeper than the last 34 years, I support England in all sports, and Britain when it it's the Olympics.

Thing is I don't let others spoil it for me, when I watch the football it's not about Gerrard scoring, or Rooney, it's about England scoring and being part of something that the majority of the country all come together for.
If you don't want to be part of it due to quite trivial reasons then that is up to you.

I don't think it's trivial mate, like I said it's just how I feel about it. As with everything outside influences play their part, why do you support Everton if you're not scouse mate? It's a similar thing, but equally it's fine for you to support them like it's fine for me not to support England. Geography perhaps endorses my viewpoint a bit more due to the lack of national identity in my city.

I don't abhor national pride like some, like I pointed out I envy the Welsh and Scottish for their collective pride when their national team are playing, but then their fans don't behave like tools to show it which is one of the things I pointed out.

It's not coincidence that not one of England's neighbours like them is it?

I done a generalisation of the southern types, which wasn't quite fair.

But for the other nationalities behaving badly thing, no doubt all nationalities have bells but not one other nationality displays the extreme tittishness of England fans overseas, and I'm not talking them zany hoolies but the general public.

I've done over a decade of research in this mate, and confirm it true.

Right, and I don't know the last time our fans sliced up other fans like the Turks do, or this flare culture that happens in Greece, and what about the racial groups in Spain and Italy who abuse their own players because they are black?

I don't overlook them mate, I don't see them worthy of getting upset about. If they want to sing about "No Surrender to the IRA" then that's up to them, same way if the Evertonians in the Street End want to chant "Murderers" to Kopites.

Regarding the discussion going on here, I support England because I'm English. As simple as that.

I don't care what any other country thinks of us, and considering we were once an empire I can imagine it's not too pretty. But fcuk 'em.

And I dig getting behind other nations- to a degree- but remember everyone hates a tourist in the end.

I support Korea I'll admit but if they played England I'd put on the 3 lions shirt and support the English boys from start to finish.


Just reading through this thread has reignited my patriotism.

I was like the dude at the start of Highlander 2 when he was ready to just die of old age, when those two dudes came back to kill him and it kicked off big time and he ended up taking down the home planet. Or something like that.

Gotta agree on this...the vast majority of provincial In..ger..lund fans are complete bellwhiffs, who have never attended a game in their lives, and who got taken to monster truck rallies on a saturday afternoon as opposed to goin the match like normal types!
