Have to say as well I'm surprised neither of Carlton or D. Bent were given more of a chance. Both players who actually have the potential to do well at international level.

Also, I read something about Heskey the other day revealing him to be the only player in the world, of those playing a certain amount of internationals, to have a 100% short pass ratio. He has never attempted a long pass in his international career. 100% of his passes have been short passes. Just to make this clear, Emile Heskey has passed the ball a hell of a lot of times during his international career, not one of these passes has been a long pass.

What a brilliant brilliant stat!!! Love it.

Why do people want to see England get beaten? You see it's this kind of stuff that made me not want to write this review in the first place. It's like you all hate England and what we stand for. I'm English, my family is English and my friends are. We are not bad people, hooligans, scumbags, thugs, belters or whatever you want to call us.

It really disappoints me to see so many people who live under the same banner as me make such an effort to want to see England lose.

Why does it bother England fans, when people who are 'English' say we don't follow the England team? It really gets people's backs up, does it really bother you that much? I don't support England, i have my reasons, you do, which is great.

You said your family and your are English, that is fine, i don't begrudge you supporting them, but even though i was born in Liverpool, i don't feel English, why should i subscribe to being English, just because i was born on a patch of land that is classed as England?

I'm not goading anything mate, just wondered. It's something that interests me, why so many English people don't want England to win - it's just weird. You can bet there won't be a Brazilian alive who won't want Brazil to win.

Also you don't need to be a very good footballing side to win trophies in knockout tournaments, it's about beating the team in front of you, the best teams don't always win.

1) The abuse of Scouse England fans in Euro 2000 from other 'England' fans, for being Scouse (God Save The Team - Fighting for Survival at Euro 2000, by Eddy Brimson)

2) Northern based players getting booed at Wembley (See Carralaa & Gary Neville & Phil Neville)

3) Ashley Cole getting booed by his own fans at Wembley in the qualifiers, but the same fans almost suffering panic attacks when he gets injured and might not play.

4) The Media - can't wait to **** off the team or individuals. Beckham in France 98, disgusting treatment served by the media turning the country on him, then four years later, creaming over him for the pen against Argentina

5) It isn't even a united country, massive north/south divide still, personally speaking from a scouse point of view, the country can't stand us, songs such as 'sign on' at away games and people flashing money at us as if we have none, that isn't banter, that is a country who can't stand us.

6) The Sun, for making scousers out to be, thieves, scumbags and all the rest after Hillsborough, which some of the country still think we are and we haven't nor might we ever shake off

7) The disgraceful death threats to Anders Frisk in Euro 2004 after he disallowed Campbell's goal in extra-time against Portugal.

I could go on mate, but there are some reasons why i won't back England and why i don't feel English

hope that helps, and as i said earlier in the thread, great report

Thats not true, not everybody can mould their lifes how they want.

I was semi-happy, working my way thru life, then suddenly I had 3 children to look after, went looking for a little help and was told to jog on.

Children change everything, yeah sure if you got none, the world is your oyster, but factor in children and then life becomes a little less a,b,c.

Nail, Hammer, Hit.. *as i heard on here one day*

Well I'll be supporting England. I'm English and would support them to the end.

For me it's the only time I can watch football with my friends and we are united. It's a special feeling which I never get during the normal season, especially being a toffee down south. And I tell you when England score and I'm with my friends, and even my mrs it will be a great feeling that for once I can share.

I don't expect England to win it, or even get to the semis but just like with everton you never know. You just never know.

Hey, whatever pal, if you don't want to support England then that's fine - but what gets my back up pal is when people like you make a point of illustrating why they hate England. Why not just not say anything?

In an earlier post in this thread, you said you found it 'weird' why people didn't like England and was curious to know why. I was merely offering you some reasons why i don't, i wouldn't have said a thing had you not asked. I didn't actually make a point of anything till you did and if you look, my first post in this thread praised you on an excellent first post, which i really enjoyed reading.

Do you not think i gave valid and decent reasons, even if you yourself don't agree with them, as to why i strongly dislike England (hate is a strong word)?

As you said earlier in the thread, you thought it was a England hating bandwagon people were jumping on - it isn't, with most of us, we have very good reasons, i was just offering you some that was all mate.

I just wish people would respect that some of us don't support England like i respect people that do (not saying you didn't respect the views either mate, coz i know you do).

Again, superb match preview Ghost

Wow.

I'm seeing some predictions of 4-1 or 5-1 to England.

Really? I mean yeah, we see those sorts of scores all the time in the World Cup right? England has a better overall team than the USA but 4-1 or 5-1 better? Hahaha...you're having a laugh.

I can guarantee you this. If England comes out with a distinct lack of the respect for the USA, they WILL be in for a rough go of it. Now I doubt Capello will allow the England team to underestimate the USA but if the USA senses that, oooooh boy, look out.

This one match could go a million different ways and the English would be well advised to learn from Portugal's experience against us in '02 cause I guarantee you no one in Portugal thought the USA could win that match. And this squad is better than our '02 squad without a doubt.

Pressure is on England.

Im sure both Spain and Brazil fans thought they'd win 4-0 too... I don't care if it was the confedrations cup

(Brazil apparently didn't either, given the way they celebrated after the game).

Well, it does seem weird to me, even after reading your reasons.

Exactly. And I can tell you that when watching us play both those teams, none of our players were intimidated or cowed by the fact of who they were playing. So if that was the case with Brazil & Spain, I imagine it will be the same for England.
