Why do people want to see England get beaten? You see it's this kind of stuff that made me not want to write this review in the first place. It's like you all hate England and what we stand for. I'm English, my family is English and my friends are. We are not bad people, hooligans, scumbags, thugs, belters or whatever you want to call us.
It really disappoints me to see so many people who live under the same banner as me make such an effort to want to see England lose.
Why does it bother England fans, when people who are 'English' say we don't follow the England team? It really gets people's backs up, does it really bother you that much? I don't support England, i have my reasons, you do, which is great.
You said your family and your are English, that is fine, i don't begrudge you supporting them, but even though i was born in Liverpool, i don't feel English, why should i subscribe to being English, just because i was born on a patch of land that is classed as England?
I'm not goading anything mate, just wondered. It's something that interests me, why so many English people don't want England to win - it's just weird. You can bet there won't be a Brazilian alive who won't want Brazil to win.
Also you don't need to be a very good footballing side to win trophies in knockout tournaments, it's about beating the team in front of you, the best teams don't always win.
1) The abuse of Scouse England fans in Euro 2000 from other 'England' fans, for being Scouse (God Save The Team - Fighting for Survival at Euro 2000, by Eddy Brimson)
2) Northern based players getting booed at Wembley (See Carralaa & Gary Neville & Phil Neville)
3) Ashley Cole getting booed by his own fans at Wembley in the qualifiers, but the same fans almost suffering panic attacks when he gets injured and might not play.
4) The Media - can't wait to **** off the team or individuals. Beckham in France 98, disgusting treatment served by the media turning the country on him, then four years later, creaming over him for the pen against Argentina
5) It isn't even a united country, massive north/south divide still, personally speaking from a scouse point of view, the country can't stand us, songs such as 'sign on' at away games and people flashing money at us as if we have none, that isn't banter, that is a country who can't stand us.
6) The Sun, for making scousers out to be, thieves, scumbags and all the rest after Hillsborough, which some of the country still think we are and we haven't nor might we ever shake off
7) The disgraceful death threats to Anders Frisk in Euro 2004 after he disallowed Campbell's goal in extra-time against Portugal.
I could go on mate, but there are some reasons why i won't back England and why i don't feel English
hope that helps, and as i said earlier in the thread, great report
