His name is Steve Cherondolo. He plays for Hannover 96 and I am so glad that he started over Spector. For me he was the best player on team USA.

It was a great game. Maybe it's time that people stop saying the US keeps getting lucky. I think we have proven that we can play against the best... and even England too :P

Ouch, don't hurt their feelings on here.:lol::lol:

How old is that Cherundolo? Seems to work very well together with Donovan.

He is 31. I can't believe I made the mistake of calling him USA's best player of the match. That obviously goes to Timmy Howard. He was just a ******* monster in goal. I was so afraid when he got kicked in the ribs for both our world cup and for you Everton boys. Then he came back and just played out of his mind. Dolo was the best field player.

I've read a couple articles on Green in the past and he looks to be a good guy. Then I read this and felt really bad for him:

From guardian.co.uk MBM:

"Was there any English player who offered any support to Green after the goal or at halftime?" asks Peter Cederblad. "I didnt see any. All left him to swallow it. I thought it was still a team sport?" Now that you mention it, nobody had a word of comfort or criticism for him immediately after the goal or on the way off the pitch at half-time

Hanging around this group Baines couldn't go a week at the training ground in England without feeling homesick. Imagine having to have to spend a month with the sub-humans on that team in another hemisphere.

Wrong Lampard turned round to him and gave a wave.

Definitely agree on Howard and I'm made up he's also Everton's number one.

I've been having themed meals every night so far.

First night I had a lovely jar of bouillanaisse that I've had in the cupboard for beards with a baguette. Last night I had burgers and Budweiser.

Tonight I'm having Becks and some of those Walker's Bratwurst sausage crisps. And maybe some cabbage or something.

If my brain ever stops hurting I'll do that preview, unless someone beats me to it (please do).

As for the game, England really created few chances and did not take them. Never have been keen on Heskey as a striker he is not a prolific goal scorer, Crouch has a better England record and should have played IMO from the start. Heskey is and always will be a donkey. How many times was he caight offside, bellend.

Am I the only one who thinks Englands overall performance was not good, admittedly they had a packed defence to combat but they should be capable of beating it. Lennon when it comes to it just seems to cross the ball over without looking up hence cut out a lot. Cannot believe O'Niell thinks Milner is worth 30 mill, never. His first card was a really stupid foul, what the fcuk was he thinking, same for Carragher. Now for me that is one player who should not have been there, showed he has no pace now, Jags is miles better than him.

As for Green, schoolboy error. If you look at it again to collect the ball went down on the wrong knee which meant his body was not properly in line with ball and his hands were not fully behind the ball either. Adx for his other so called great save after Carragher had been skinned, what a load of rubbish, Green was again very lucky. His hands were n o on the ball properly and he palmed the ball up onto the post. If the ball had hit the post inside more it would have been a goal from another goal keeping error. Why could he not palm it round the post for a corner? Tell you what made the Nigerian keeper Kuhne look the best inh the World.

Bollocks of a display and if we come second in group we face Germany who will no doubt top theirs. Greens cockup could actually have cost us the tournament.

Well done to the Americans on here overnight who have, from what I can see, given a level headed appraisal of the match.

Now the dust has settled I think from an England perspective the major worry has to be the battering the Capello reputation has received after that performance. England looked good(ish) second half only when they had Johnson off the leash going forward down the right flank offering Lennon assistance. For me, that was it. Heskey played well enough, but the longer the match went on that approach to get the ball to him and work play from there was always going to bear less and less fruit as the US worked themselves into a groove of dealing with it...and yet Capello doesn't see it and sticks Crouch on in a like for like change. Capello's subbing of Milner (which he explains as the need to avoid a second booking and sending off) underlines a way too cautious approach to the game. Surely you have to also look at the player (who's by no means a thug) and weigh up if he can keep himself wisely in check with no silly fouls? I know Cherundolo was having a decent game and causing him problems, but it was early days and the duel should have been allowed to develop. And the decision to take a sicknote player like Ledley King to the WC came crashing down in game one. Not only that, he puts on a replacement who (in addition to being woefully out of his depth in top flight football these days) hasn't even earned the right to be in the squad for South Africa, not having played the qualifying matches. Not exactly great for a corp spirit you wouldn't imagine.

So, never mind dodgy Hammers goalies, j'accuse Fabio Capello and his feet of clay.

I can't handle the World Cup horns anymore and I've only seen 4 games! England's performance didn't help. Anyone who thinks Heskey had a good game needs urgent medical attention.
